The Legends of Ren Zu

Dang Hun Mountain first appears in Legends of Ren Zu. Fang Yuan recounts wisdom Gu teaching Ren Zu how to enter the Door of Life and Death for Verdant Great Sun’s soul: enter by the road of death with courage Gu, meet fairness Gu, then leave by the road of life past three obstacles, Dang Hun Mountain, Luo Po Valley, and reverse flow river, using guts Gu, faith Gu, and unbroken forward motion. ^{ch. 410}

Trapped in Longevity Heaven’s Calamity Luck Altar, Five Elements Grandmaster agrees with Heaven Extremity’s remark that he reads The Legends of Ren Zu frequently, and says the book contains Ren Zu’s human path true inheritance. He adds that he once heard Giant Sun Immortal Venerable created self luck and then stalled at an impasse, gained the inspiration to create all living beings’ luck only after reading the book, ascended to the Immortal Venerable throne after that, and only then went on to create heaven and earth luck; Heaven Extremity nods and agrees. ^{ch. 1180}

The text quotes The Legends of Ren Zu, chapter four, section twenty-six, in full. The excerpt follows Ren Zu’s daughter Boundless Forest Samsara and a miniman building ladders out of Ordinary Abyss: strength Gu flies out of a felled tree and offers her great strength in exchange for her youth, which she takes, while the miniman refuses her advice to give up and enjoy his life, and answers cold, loneliness, and fear alike with the same line, until a Gu worm forms on his body, names itself perseverance Gu, and thanks him for giving it life. The miniman climbs free of Ordinary Abyss and meets Ren Zu, who sighs that he could have conquered Reverse Flow River had he held that Immortal Gu himself. ^{ch. 1276}

Flood Extremity dismisses perseverance Gu as nothing more than an invented Gu worm from the pages of The Legends of Ren Zu. Black Extremity disagrees, saying perseverance Immortal Gu is no fiction and has existed in the past. ^{ch. 1277}

Narration states that a true inheritance of human path is hidden within The Legends of Ren Zu, calling it the first true inheritance in the history of the Gu Master world. Its inheritance method is unique: normal inheritances are like Hei Fan’s true inheritance and Bai Xiang’s true inheritance, but Ren Zu’s human path true inheritance is just the one book, information in which the profundities of human path are concealed, so whatever a Gu Immortal learns from it depends on their affinity and talent. Gains differ from reader to reader, but every Immortal Venerable and Demon Venerable gained from it, and those gains were huge: Giant Sun Immortal Venerable created all living beings’ luck and heaven and earth luck after reading it. ^{ch. 1347}

After tracing myriad self into human path, Fang Yuan reads hope Gu, vanity Gu, guts Gu, stubborn Gu, pride Gu, self Gu, suffering Gu and related names in The Legends of Ren Zu as human path Gu worms. He notes that The Legends of Ren Zu is known as the human path true inheritance and that it contains deep profundities of human path, and that only then can he read it with a proper level of understanding. ^{ch. 1774}

Watching the three bloody skins Reckless Savage Demon Venerable left on Embroidered Tower take the shape of a wingless bird, a toothless beast, and a gill-less fish, the immortals compare them to a story told of Ren Zu in The Legends of Ren Zu, chapter four. Driven mad after fate Gu’s manipulation separates him from his children and after losing wealth Gu, Ren Zu meets wingless birds, toothless beasts, and gill-less fish who once held freedom Gu without realising it, let it go, and are now pursuing it, and who warn him to cherish his if he ever holds it. Freedom Gu later flies to him of its own accord, drawn by the cognition Gu on him rather than for his sake, and escapes the moment he opens his hands to look for it. ^{ch. 1954}

Bing Sai Chuan gives Hei Lou Lan a rank seven rule path Immortal Gu he names strong Gu, recorded in The Legends of Ren Zu and tied to the Great Strength True Martial Physique. The text then quotes The Legends of Ren Zu, chapter five, section thirty-one: having lost freedom Gu, Ren Zu asks cognition Gu how to win it back, is reminded that he already swore to rely on his own strength and wisdom, and sets off to find wisdom Gu. Along the road he meets a small Gu fleeing a larger, armored Gu that means to eat it, and seeing the small one unable to fend for itself he feels he is seeing himself; at that instant a new heart grows in his chest, the heart of sympathy, and only then does he stretch out his arms to stop the larger Gu. ^{ch. 2036}

When Kong Sheng Tian’s will names Hu Land, listeners ask whether it is the secluded domain of heaven and earth recorded in The Legends of Ren Zu. The text states that The Legends of Ren Zu is simply too widely known in the world. ^{ch. 2098}
