Faith Gu is the Gu whose eternal light blind Ren Zu can still see, according to Attitude Gu in an early Legends of Ren Zu telling.
After Ren Zu digs out both eyes and lives in darkness, he sometimes sees a little light. Attitude Gu tells him that this is the eternal light given out by Faith Gu. ch. 144
Pledge, warning, and valley rescue
Wisdom Gu tells Ren Zu that to get past Luo Po Valley on the road of life he needs Faith Gu’s help. Ren Zu finds Faith Gu quickly. Ever since he became blind, Faith Gu’s light is the only light he can see. Faith Gu says it is willing to help him recover his eldest son, but urges him not to give up that goal, because when he gives up it will leave him for good. ch. 410
In Luo Po Valley, when Ren Zu almost loses his way, Faith Gu flies out and shines upon his path, and he walks out with only the essence of his soul remaining. ch. 411 A later legend note adds that one must have the help of courage Gu and faith Gu to enter the Door of Life and Death. ch. 435
Leaving Ren Zu
When Ren Zu inspects a Gu refined by hairy men and it proves to be failure Gu, Faith Gu flies out, calls Ren Zu a failure and unworthy of it, and leaves. Ren Zu cannot catch up and tells the hairy man this is the last time he is trusting him. ch. 845 Much later Ren Zu recalls that courage Gu used to be his companion and the friend of faith Gu, and that after the hairy men and failure Gu it left him. ch. 1175
