Chapter 410

Fang Yuan counts seventy-eight pieces of green grape immortal essence in the golden bowl, a hundred times the three kings blessed land’s store. He takes out one bead and summons Fixed Immortal Travel Gu, a meticulously crafted butterfly like jade. He nearly falls, and Little Hu Immortal warns him that summoning an Immortal Gu so carelessly risks another coma. The Gu eats the whole bead, its first feeding after his seven days of sleep. He will not need to feed it for six years. He lets it roam Dang Hun palace, so long as it does not leave Dang Hun mountain and get killed by the blue charm lightning shadow. ^{ch. 410}

His aperture, still rank four upper stage, cannot hold a healthy Immortal Gu. He keeps Spring Autumn Cicada only because it is weak and his vital Gu. Next he must fix his soul, so he goes with the land spirit to find gutstones, refusing her offer to teleport him because immortal essence must be saved. At the first gutstone he smashes it, and a Gu flies out as grey eerie light into his body. His mind clears, strength enters his soul and the buzzing in his ears lessens. ^{ch. 410}

Dang Hun mountain is a death ground, but souls that break on it fuse with it into gutstones, and some hold guts Gu that strengthen a soul. A chance of survival is hidden in what looks like an absolute death ground. Guts Gu lasts only an instant and gutstones cannot be moved, so he must walk the mountain himself. Another dozen gutstones yield eight more guts Gu, and his soul heals completely and ends stronger than before. Too many guts Gu would over-inflate a soul that lacks concentration into certain death, but his five hundred years of hardship have tempered his soul like steel, so a few hundred pose no problem. A stronger soul foundation also eases refining Gu and enslaving beasts, and guards against killer moves like Mo Wu Tian’s purple eyes. ^{ch. 410}

Hu Immortal was lucky to obtain Dang Hun mountain and move it into her blessed land. But she was extremely unlucky, dying in the fifth earthly calamity. She never used it for herself, and now the mountain, the blessed land’s most valuable part, is Fang Yuan’s. ^{ch. 410}

The Legends of Ren Zu mention the mountain as a forbidden ground. When Verdant Great Sun plunges to his death, extremely upset Ren Zu goes to wisdom Gu, who had taught his son to drink. Wisdom Gu says the son can be revived if Ren Zu enters the door of life and death and leads him out by the road of life. Ren Zu is shocked, then overjoyed, then extremely furious, and fears the door lets no one leave. Wisdom Gu offers to teach the secrets. ^{ch. 410}

A living person must enter by the road of death, left behind by destiny Gu when it left fairness Gu, and needs courage Gu against the suffering Gu. On seeing fairness Gu he will already be dead, but he will see Verdant Great Sun’s soul and take it out by the road of life, which destiny Gu trod when it visited fairness Gu. That road has three obstacles: Dang Hun mountain, passed with guts Gu from gutstones, Luo Po valley, passed with faith Gu, and the reverse flow river, crossed without stopping. Ren Zu lets wisdom Gu go. He finds faith Gu, whose light is all he can see since he went blind. Faith Gu agrees to help but warns that it will leave for good if he gives up. ^{ch. 410}

Ren Zu then finds courage Gu, a companion of the hope Gu he already has. On the road of death, suffering Gu swarm him like yellow fireflies, and courage Gu shines to chase them away. His body turns whiter and hollow, becoming a ghost, and he can see again. At the end he meets fairness Gu and its huge body leaves him extremely shocked. Fairness Gu says its body becomes enormous inside the door, and tells him his son is right there. ^{ch. 410}
