Fairness Gu is the Gu Ren Zu meets at the end of the road of death inside the Door of Life and Death in The Legends of Ren Zu.
Wisdom Gu teaches Ren Zu the secret of the Door of Life and Death. The road of death is the road left behind by destiny Gu when it left Fairness Gu, called the path of destiny. When Ren Zu enters and sees Fairness Gu, he is already dead, and there he will also see Verdant Great Sun’s soul. The road of life is the path destiny Gu treaded when it visited Fairness Gu, also called the path of destiny. ch. 410
At the end of the road of death, amidst calm darkness, Ren Zu sees Fairness Gu. Fairness Gu says life and death are the greatest fairness in this world, and tells him his son is right there. ch. 410
Appearance
Inside the Door of Life and Death, Fairness Gu’s body is enormous. Ren Zu says a mountain is a speck of dust beside it and the sea is like a droplet. Fairness Gu states that when it is inside the Door of Life and Death its body becomes enormous. ch. 410
Destiny counsel and farewell
When Ren Zu cannot move Verdant Great Sun’s heavy ghost body, Fairness Gu tells him the two paths in the Door of Life and Death both appeared because of destiny Gu, that life and death are determined by destiny, and that he should accept his son’s death. It calls obsession death domain the world’s most tranquil place. Ren Zu bids farewell to Fairness Gu and his son and leaves that domain by the path of life. ch. 411
Fate’s traces
Self Gu later tells Ren Zu that the Door of Life and Death’s entrance and exit are the traces left behind by fate Gu when it visited Fairness Gu, and that walking that road means being under fate’s manipulation and arrangement. ch. 646 Another telling has Self Gu say all living beings die because fate Gu entered the Door of Life and Death and left a trace when searching for Fairness Gu. ch. 944
Immortal Gu label
Fang Yuan summarizes the legend as road of life, road of death, and Obsession Death Domain which held fairness Immortal Gu. ch. 1010 Pacifying Soul Lake also lies within the Door of Life and Death, beside Fairness Gu. ch. 2192
