Verdant Great Sun is Ren Zu's eldest son in The Legends of Ren Zu, first named when Ren Zu's left eye falls and becomes a golden-haired young man.
In a loneliness legend, Ren Zu digs out both eyes after gaining the heart of loneliness. His left eye becomes a young man with golden hair and a strong body who kneels and names himself Ren Zu’s eldest son, Verdant Great Sun, while the right eye becomes Desolate Ancient Moon. Ren Zu then asks the two children to observe the world for him. ch. 131
Fang Yuan later recalls that before Ren Zu died he gave birth to ten children, naming eldest son Verdant Great Sun among them, and that those ten kids individually represented ten ultimate aptitudes above A grade. ch. 135
Appearance
He is a young man with golden hair and a strong body. ch. 131
Death
Tie Mu Bai cites that Ren Zu’s eldest son gave up his life while chasing glory. ch. 370
Attempted revival
Fang Yuan later recalls that after Verdant Great Sun died, Ren Zu went to the Door of Life and Death to attempt revival. ch. 384
Ghost’s account of his death
A Legends of Ren Zu stretch then finds him as a white ghost lying beside a lake in that door, drinking what he calls soul calming wine. He says he held Reputation Gu in life, died after bathing in the light of glory, and is heavier than a mountain so he cannot walk; Reputation Gu left him after death, and Fixed Immortal Travel remains with him. Fairness Gu names the place Obsession Death Domain, the world’s most tranquil place, and tells Ren Zu that Verdant Great Sun’s death is destiny he should accept. ch. 411
Golden soul
During the Yi Tian Mountain tribulation stretch, Fang Yuan sees Spectral Soul fail to devour a soul that sleeps while emitting golden radiance, and asks whether that soul is Verdant Great Sun. ch. 1020
