Fate Gu

It looks like a spider, colored in black and white, with a scarlet wound on its body that almost cuts it in two. ^{ch. 780}

Tai Bai Yun Sheng states that if Red Lotus Demon Venerable had not broken fate Gu, souls would be sucked into the Door of Life and Death after death and could not remain as zombies. ^{ch. 670} After Red Lotus Demon Venerable broke fate Gu, souls were no longer sucked directly into that door, and thus zombies were born. ^{ch. 722}

Inside Heaven Overseeing Tower, Heaven Overseeing Tower Lord faces rank nine Immortal Gu Fate: a black and white spider with a scarlet wound that nearly cuts it in two. The tower is a rank nine Immortal Gu House whose most important core, Fate, is fatally injured and close to destruction. The wound was inflicted by Red Lotus Demon Venerable, who broke Fate and destroyed the chains of fate without completely destroying the Gu. Healing requires both treating the Gu’s wound and eliminating people who escaped fate’s judgment. Star Constellation Immortal Venerable’s arrangements used fate Gu as the core. After generations of work the Gu is dying but barely usable, and Heaven Overseeing Tower Lord expects the latest Refinement Path Convention to bring it to fifty percent of its might. ^{ch. 780} Sixth Hair later says that though Red Lotus Demon Venerable tried all his life, breaking fate Gu never harmed heaven’s will. ^{ch. 1076}

Later planning treats the Infallible inheritance as able to help recover fate Gu, which is why Heavenly Court took that inheritance over. ^{ch. 838} Heaven Overseeing Tower Lord later says that after restoring fate Gu this time it will display fifty percent of its might, a qualitative change that lets Heavenly Court search for more fate escapees and restore the Immortal Gu faster. The same stretch states that success dao marks gathered through the Central Continent Refinement Path Convention are used to restore fate Gu. ^{ch. 845}

Killing a fate escapee such as Song Zi Xing is ordered to help heal fate Gu. ^{ch. 848} When the repair succeeds, fate Immortal Gu floats above the formation like a black and white spider whose red wound has shrunk by thirty percent. Lian Jiu Sheng states that fate Gu can use fifty percent of its strength even outside Heaven Overseeing Tower. Heaven Overseeing Tower Lord restates that fifty percent recovery and names the effect as fate itself: living beings have paths they follow and cannot freely change; after Red Lotus harmed the Gu the world went into chaos; at fifty percent strength the world begins to pull those who derailed back toward their original fate. ^{ch. 948} Shortly afterward he holds fate Gu beneath Heaven Overseeing Tower and restates that half might, used with the tower, can find more fate escapees in a cycle that restores both Gu and tower. ^{ch. 956}

In a nameless forest, a vague elderly figure in a mirror tells Seven Star Child immortal zombie, whom it calls Vice Envoy Blue, that all the preparations are in place, and that since Heavenly Court has already completed its last process of repairing fate Gu, he must act in advance. ^{ch. 954}

Heaven Overseeing Tower Lord tells Bi Chen Tian and Lian Jiu Sheng that Heavenly Court has just repaired fate Gu and can now use half of its might, and recalls that a sword light cut Heaven Overseeing Tower in two as he was about to enter it, asking whether that was really a coincidence. ^{ch. 996}

During Shadow Sect’s ambush at the ten extreme immortal zombie lifeless formation, the undercover Lian Jiu Sheng kills himself once his identity is exposed, destroying his immortal aperture and creating the winds of assimilation, and narration states that had fate Immortal Gu been fully intact, Heaven Overseeing Tower would have been able to stop its own attack and there would have been no backlash. ^{ch. 1005}

After Gu Immortal Granny Sha finishes repairing Heaven Overseeing Tower and dies from the effort, fate Immortal Gu’s recovery has risen to sixty percent, up from the fifty percent it reached during the last Central Continent Refinement Path Convention. Heaven Overseeing Tower itself has not yet been reactivated. ^{ch. 1335}

Yuan Qiong Du reports to Fairy Zi Wei that he has bought a batch of year beasts in treasure yellow heaven that are filled with heaven’s will, and that he can use these year beasts as immortal materials to repair fate Immortal Gu, saving time and strengthening the effect. ^{ch. 1401}

Spectral Soul’s will tells Fang Yuan that Heavenly Court’s control of rank nine fate Immortal Gu is what makes it so terrifying, and that the reason Star Constellation Immortal Venerable was able to make arrangements that could resist three Demon Venerables after her death was mostly because of the power of this Gu. ^{ch. 1435}

The Legends of Ren Zu, chapter four, recounts fate Gu’s spider silk wrapping around Ren Zu’s whole body while he refuses to release freedom Gu, cutting into his flesh until it tears into his bones. ^{ch. 1954}

Fang Yuan reaches the top of Heaven Overseeing Tower, grabs fate Gu, and, after a last thought on The Legends of Ren Zu’s telling of Ren Zu’s pursuit of freedom, crushes it, destroying the rank nine Immortal Gu. ^{ch. 1960}
