Failure Gu

Failure Gu and success Gu look almost the same as ordinary rocks. Holding them reveals which is which. ^{ch. 547} A Gu the hairy man leader asks Ren Zu to appraise resembles an ordinary rock covered with a thick layer of hair. ^{ch. 845}

Cognition Gu warns that Cheng Bai mountain holds success Gu at the peak and failure Gu at the bottom. Failure is the mother of success and has many other children; the rocks Desolate Ancient Moon picks are success Gu’s siblings and bring disastrous situations. Affirming the belief of “me” can gradually clear those disasters, but holding failure Gu leaves a person completely lost and in danger of dying. Desolate Ancient Moon’s search yields only failure Gu’s children until two rocks remain; she picks failure Gu and falls into endless perplexity, losing her sense of self. ^{ch. 547}

When the hairy man leader asks Ren Zu to break and appraise rock-like Gu, breaking failure Gu would make the hairy man lose his sense of self, while Ren Zu’s self Gu protects him. Each appraisal crumbles as failure Gu, and courage Gu, faith Gu, and strength Gu leave Ren Zu after calling him a failure. Heavenly Court Gu Immortals later research Infallible blessed land as the hairy man leader’s inheritance: it gathers other people’s failures into mortal failure Gu, and as those mortal Gu increase they condense into success dao marks used toward restoring fate Gu. Bi Chen Tian notes more mortal failure Gu than before as the Refinement Path Convention grows. ^{ch. 845}

Ren Zu later recalls that courage Gu used to be his companion and the friend of faith Gu, and that after he encountered the hairy men, due to failure Gu, it left him. ^{ch. 1175}
