Tai Bai Yun Sheng

He walks into Hei Lou Lan’s camp with a letter and says he has come to lend a hand. ^{ch. 523} He is tall, white at the temples, deeply wrinkled, and already over eighty, publicly treated as a great righteous path Gu Master whose prestige in Northern Plains outruns names like Chang Shan Yin and Hei Lou Lan. He is one of the rare time path Gu Masters at rank five peak stage, and holds two rank five time path Gu known across the region: mountain as before and river as before. ^{ch. 524} He cultivates cloud path on the side while time path stays his main path. ^{ch. 748} He spars often with Fang Yuan, who picks up his mortal methods that way. ^{ch. 1040}

Fang Yuan also knows he holds the rank five Gu man as before. ^{ch. 533}

In the releasing Gu step he sends his vital Gu man as before into the tri-colored primordial qi, then pours a theoretical Immortal Gu recipe from his inheritance into the cocoon around it, on that recipe’s claim that man as before advanced to rank six can be used on its owner. ^{ch. 609} The cocoon breaks into a colorful butterfly trailing rainbow light, and he names the result Immortal Gu Man as Before. River as before and mountain as before combine in the resonance of heaven and earth into Immortal Gu Landscape as Before, which he reads as their effect elevated and which was no part of his goal. He survives the tribulation a Gu Immortal, with Eighty-Eight True Yang Building’s divert disaster Gu shielding him from the chaotic lightning balls while calamity and tribulation form inside his own immortal aperture. ^{ch. 611}

At an auction, Tai Bai Yun Sheng checks the east window Gu and notes that conceal luck Immortal Gu, originally numbered last, has become the first lot. ^{ch. 751}

Acting on Fang Yuan’s secret transmission, Tai Bai Yun Sheng bids from the eleventh secret room, a rival bid Fang Yuan arranged without breaking the auction’s rules. ^{ch. 756}

Eighty-Eight True Yang Building yielded Fang Yuan only one lifespan Gu, and Tai Bai Yun Sheng has already used it. ^{ch. 778}

Unable to conceal his aura the way Old Lord Can Yang can, Tai Bai Yun Sheng’s identity as a Northern Plains Gu Immortal has long been exposed in Eastern Sea. ^{ch. 818}

When Bo Dan accuses Xing Xiang Zi of slander before Shark Demon and the immortal zombies, Tai Bai Yun Sheng retorts that he is most clear about Xing Xiang Zi’s abilities and calls Bo Dan the real scoundrel. ^{ch. 891}

When Blazing Heaven Demoness attacks, Tai Bai Yun Sheng transmits to Fang Yuan that she is a rank eight great expert they cannot fight, and Fang Yuan reads his intention as sitting and watching. He frowns and does not want to act, but Shark Demon accepts her wager of three moves in words that place Fang Yuan and Tai Bai Yun Sheng on his side, and Tai Bai Yun Sheng sighs inwardly and takes his place beside Fang Yuan facing her. ^{ch. 919}

Shark Demon names the small shark a one finger flow shark, and Tai Bai Yun Sheng, surprised, knows of it already as a time path Gu Immortal, from the mnemonic almost all of them carry. When it clashes with Blazing Heaven Demoness’ fire bird he reads the scene as a time path Immortal Gu in the shark activating, one that makes the flow of time within a certain range extremely slow. ^{ch. 920}

Doctor Yin Xuan, a healing Gu Immortal skilled at treating immortal zombies, is still said to fall short of Tai Bai Yun Sheng. ^{ch. 931}

Facing calamity in his immortal aperture, Tai Bai Yun Sheng chooses to keep his cultivation resources in place despite the severe loss it risks, because that aperture is his most essential foundation. ^{ch. 939}

Tai Bai Yun Sheng has recently repaired Luo Po valley. ^{ch. 961}

After his six hour negotiation with Hei Lou Lan, Fang Yuan brings Tai Bai Yun Sheng over, and a new agreement is formed with Hei Lou Lan and Fairy Li Shan. ^{ch. 975}

Tai Bai Yun Sheng displays the ability of Landscape as Before Immortal Gu, ending the featherman Gu Immortals’ threat to his own immortal aperture. ^{ch. 978}

He appears as a vivid illusion in front of the fleeing Blazing Glory Lightning Brilliance immortal zombie, who strikes it and finds it a mere clump of bubbles. The illusion appears a second time, but investigative methods expose it and the zombie flies on, and Fang Yuan, who had arranged that delay, catches up with Fixed Immortal Travel. ^{ch. 989}

Tai Bai Yun Sheng remarks that inside Fang Yuan’s huge Gu formation, he can actually control Gu worms and create illusions. ^{ch. 990}

Tai Bai Yun Sheng and the featherman Gu Immortal Zhou Zhong are stationed not far from Fang Yuan near Luo Po Valley, held in reserve as backup if needed. ^{ch. 992}

At Fang Yuan’s request, Tai Bai Yun Sheng restores Luo Po valley after Shadow Sect’s modifications, returning it to its original environment. ^{ch. 997}

Hidden beforehand inside Fang Yuan’s own immortal aperture, Tai Bai Yun Sheng is brought out to pilot the Immortal Gu House Graceful Chaotic Duel Stage as reinforcement, and Hei Lou Lan and Fairy Li Shan, who had been hiding inside his own immortal aperture in turn, emerge to help; manipulating the House, he calls it too huge a gamble. ^{ch. 1006}

When Bo Qing’s blade takes Fairy Li Shan’s head, Tai Bai Yun Sheng activates man as before Immortal Gu at the crucial moment and restores her, though Bo Qing’s immediate follow-up strike kills her regardless. ^{ch. 1011}

With the light of the immemorial era obtained, Tai Bai Yun Sheng suggests they make use of Defy for the remaining materials needed. ^{ch. 1060}

Fang Yuan privately calls him a kind man, hesitant and timid, who holds two time path Immortal Gu and can help out a lot, and observes that he, like Hei Lou Lan, is controlled by Ying Wu Xie. ^{ch. 1075}

In the transactions with Shadow Sect, Fang Yuan obtains his Landscape as Before and Man as Before, the two time path Immortal Gu he held. ^{ch. 1079}

Looking over the Immortal Gu that Regret Pool has refined again, Tai Bai Yun Sheng notes that none of them are time path, the path he cultivates. ^{ch. 1104}

He now holds a cloud path Immortal Gu, cloud path having originally been his secondary cultivation. ^{ch. 1152}

Taking Hei Lou Lan’s hint that the enemy knows their whereabouts too precisely, Tai Bai Yun Sheng asks whether they have a traitor, and Ying Wu Xie answers that the probability of a traitor is small. Kept in the dark though he is, Tai Bai Yun Sheng is also under an alliance agreement from Ying Wu Xie, so he could not become a traitor. ^{ch. 1153}

As Bai Ning Bing activates his phantom aperture and flies off on the white form immortal snake, none of the group mocks his shifting form; Tai Bai Yun Sheng is kindhearted about it, where Hei Lou Lan is indifferent to the detail and Shi Nu anxious over the stakes. ^{ch. 1194}

As the sword light dragon breath keeps coming, Tai Bai Yun Sheng moves to add the protection of cloud rings around the other Gu Immortals. ^{ch. 1256}

Time path is his main cultivation, and it is the trade of Man as Before and Landscape as Before to Fang Yuan that makes him take up cloud path. Inside the regional wall a Gu Immortal’s immortal killer moves tremor when they are used, and his five uses of the cloud ring make his immortal aperture tremor five times and inflict huge losses. Fang Yuan’s Sword Escape is too fast for him to react to, and the claw strike collapses the cloud ring around him and tears his stomach open, though the ring offsets most of the strength and he barely survives. Hei Lou Lan drags him to the rear and spends all her healing methods on him, but his injuries show no sign of healing, because a wound from Fang Yuan’s ancient sword dragon transformation carries sword path dao marks in quantities his fragile human body can hardly endure. He says that with Man as Before it would not be so troublesome, then faints with his life hanging by a thread. Ying Wu Xie names him Fang Yuan’s true target, likely marked since the battle began because he is the weakest of the five immortals, and says he can no longer be counted on. ^{ch. 1257}

When the mysterious rank eight Gu Immortal grows to a normal human size and arrives to turn the battle against the Central Continent Gu Immortals, Tai Bai Yun Sheng kneels with tears running down his face and calls him master. The purple haired old man answers that he remembers giving him a time path true inheritance, and tells Old Ancestor Xue Hu shortly after that he has many names but may be called Purple Mountain True Monarch. ^{ch. 1270}

Swept along Reverse Flow River, Tai Bai Yun Sheng is pulled by Ying Wu Xie onto a floating king lotus leaf, and tells him he is lucky to have found it. When Ying Wu Xie proposes they regroup with Purple Mountain True Monarch to retake Ma Hong Yun and Zhao Lian Yun, Tai Bai Yun Sheng answers with admiration, agreeing they should meet him. ^{ch. 1275}

He charges Fang Yuan to stall him so Ying Wu Xie and the others can escape, and Fang Yuan kills him; he dies, and Fang Yuan shrugs off the corpse. ^{ch. 1279}

On the Snowy Mountain trip, Shi Nu and Tai Bai Yun Sheng die in battle. ^{ch. 1290}

Landscape as Before and Man as Before belonged to Shadow Sect, and were passed to Tai Bai Yun Sheng through Purple Mountain True Monarch. ^{ch. 1302}

Purple Mountain True Monarch later frames his death in battle as, on the surface, Fang Yuan’s doing, and from another angle as a sacrificial piece in the conflict between Shadow Sect and heaven’s will. ^{ch. 1334}

Purple Mountain True Monarch thanks Fang Yuan for bestowing him this title; it turns out to be the same name Fang Yuan once used to deceive Tai Bai Yun Sheng, become reality years later. ^{ch. 1366}

As a youth, Tai Bai Yun Sheng is offered three true inheritances by Purple Mountain True Monarch, fire, wind, or one to surpass life and death and help the world’s people, and after a while chooses the third. ^{ch. 1372}
