Tai Bai Yun Sheng is over eighty, white at the temples and deeply wrinkled. Fate has toyed with him: his tribe was annihilated, his wife betrayed him, and a time path Gu Immortal’s inheritance came by a fortuitous encounter. Though a loner, he is publicly accepted as a great righteous path Gu Master, and his prestige far surpasses that of Chang Shan Yin, Hei Lou Lan and Liu Wen Wu. ch. 524
Hei Lou Lan is at his wit’s end and thinking of retreat when Tai Bai Yun Sheng arrives at the camp alone with a letter. Hei tribe’s supreme elder Hei Bai had taken a fancy to him and rescued him many times, and now sends the letter asking for help. Hei Lou Lan, overjoyed, holds a banquet that night. At dawn Hei Lou Lan arranges the formation and asks Tai Bai Yun Sheng to move. ch. 524
Before the army stands the mountain that Gu tribe, long famous for earth path, piled from stones in about ten days. Gu tribe’s alliance leader Gu Guo Long has a bad feeling as the Gu Masters around him laugh at the old man walking to the front. After repeated defeats he had secretly written to Liu Wen Wu to side with Liu tribe. Liu Wen Wu has agreed and is leading his army to reinforce, so Gu Guo Long needs to hold seven more days. Tai Bai Yun Sheng chants mountain as before, and Gu Guo Long recognizes him. ch. 524
At that very moment a silver light becomes a pillar that rams into the peak, and no defense or attack stops it. Humans and beasts are unscathed, but the stones under Gu tribe, however enormous or thick, vanish at a visible speed. Gu tribe army falls, and countless die crashing down from five hundred to six hundred feet. The survivors ask why their benefactor helps Tyrant Hei Lou Lan. ch. 524
Hei Lou Lan laughs wildly. Rank six Gu Immortal Hei Bai thought highly of Tai Bai Yun Sheng as a seed to cultivate. Fang Yuan alone stays calm, since in his previous life Tai Bai Yun Sheng joined Hei tribe army from this point and gave Hei Lou Lan enormous assistance. In that life, Hei Lou Lan’s final victory came mostly through Tai Bai Yun Sheng. But being benevolent, Tai Bai Yun Sheng became deeply aware of Hei Lou Lan’s savage and brutal nature, and after advancing to Gu Immortal he refused Hei Bai’s request to become Hei tribe’s external supreme elder. ch. 524
Hei Lou Lan shouts for slaughter, but Tai Bai Yun Sheng sighs, stops attacking and urges him by transmitted voice to take in Gu tribe army instead. Tai Bai Yun Sheng could reduce Gu tribe by over half with one casual move. He chooses not to. Hei Lou Lan, though raging to kill, must consider the face of Tai Bai Yun Sheng, an extremely rare time path Gu Master at rank five peak stage. He agrees and sends six rank four experts to escort the old man up the mountain. ch. 524
Gu Guo Long greets Tai Bai Yun Sheng as benefactor. Back then Gu tribe’s spirit spring dried up, and Tai Bai Yun Sheng helped the tribe without any fee. Under his persuasion Gu Guo Long, though he admires Liu Wen Wu, must lower his head. Tai Bai Yun Sheng descends after a quarter of an hour with over a hundred thousand people where six had gone up. Gu tribe army pledges allegiance to Hei Lou Lan. ch. 524
On his very first day with Hei tribe army, Tai Bai Yun Sheng tops the battle merit list, while Fang Yuan, listed as Wolf King Chang Shan Yin, sits exactly opposite at the bottom in scarlet red and negative. At that night’s banquet Hei Lou Lan toasts him, saying that with old sir assisting, all defense lines are useless. Tai Bai Yun Sheng has two rank five time path Gu recognized across the northern plains: mountain as before restores earth and mountains to their original appearance, and river as before restores rivers and springs. Gu Guo Long’s mountain stood on flat grassland, so it returned to that form. River as before had restored Gu tribe’s spirit spring.
