Chapter 1011

The immortals cannot believe their eyes: Spectral Soul stops both grand tribulations with ease, and Fang Yuan’s heart shakes. Spectral Soul is already dead; only his soul remains, thousands of meters tall, chest level with the clouds, leg like a mountain peak. He has three heads, one horned and tusked, one flower-eyed, one lightning-eyed. The dark clouds of the ten extreme formation reach only his waist. He has a thousand arms, five hundred to each side, dark as ink and thick with muscle, and a thousand ghostly hands, of which the one Embroidered Tower sewed down earlier was only one. ^{ch. 1011}

Fairy Li Shan recognizes him and screams; his image is known even to mortals, worshipped across Southern Border. Hei Lou Lan and Tai Bai Yun Sheng are left shaking and speechless. Fang Yuan feels excitement now: this must be soul path’s limit, a soul solid enough to affect matter, its foundation surpassing a hundred million man souls. Even so, Spectral Soul Demon Venerable died in the end, and Fang Yuan wonders if eternal life truly exists. His fear gone, he feels only driven, having long forgotten death, ready to climb on even if destroyed utterly. ^{ch. 1011}

Heaven Overseeing Tower bursts out with a grand light that shatters Spectral Soul’s ghostly hand and frees itself, a rank nine House after all. Heaven Overseeing Tower Lord’s fighting spirit spreads, and the immortals answer that heaven cannot be defied and swear to protect the Great Dao. The Tower shines with unprecedented light. Spectral Soul’s hands seize it again, more than ten layering over it, though its light still cuts through the gaps between the shaking fingers. ^{ch. 1011}

Spectral Soul ignores the Tower, turning all three heads to the sky, and the sky answers with its strongest storm. This is no longer a grand tribulation but a myriad tribulation, Wind Lightning Prison. Lightning bolts fall, and tornadoes coil around him like pythons and dragons. His arms tear them apart while his fists punch the falling bolts. ^{ch. 1011}

The myriad tribulation targets Spectral Soul and the ten extreme formation, leaving Fang Yuan’s group, still inside it, rather safe. Shadow Sect’s Gu Immortals note this tribulation runs stronger than ordinary; their main body endures it, and the formation is already refined sixty percent. Their true enemy, they realize, is heaven itself, not Heavenly Court or Fang Yuan. Complete, Shadow Sect’s group would be confident, but Heavenly Court and Fang Yuan left them incomplete, the formation nearly broke before the Zombie Alliance sacrifice salvaged it, and with their main body present they judge themselves better spent speeding its refinement. ^{ch. 1011}

Their true identity is clear: these Gu Immortals are Spectral Soul’s split souls, why Shadow Sect stayed hidden and never feared death. This entire force is a one-man show. Seven Star Child, Song Zi Xing and others follow Old Man Yan Shi’s example and enter the formation to sacrifice themselves. Only two stay out, one being Ying Wu Xie, whose physique keeps advancing his cultivation until he becomes rank nine at life’s end, Spectral Soul’s final trump card. The other is immortal zombie Bo Qing, whose remnant soul is actually Mo Yao, and she stays behind rather than enter the formation as mere material. ^{ch. 1011}

Free of other concerns, Bo Qing and Ying Wu Xie charge at Fang Yuan’s group, trapped since the formation seals space path methods. Bo Qing’s sword light chops off Fairy Li Shan’s head. Tai Bai Yun Sheng’s man as before Immortal Gu restores her, but Bo Qing mocks the rank six Gu and bursts sword qi through her, reducing her to mush, and Hei Lou Lan charges at him in grief. Ying Wu Xie blocks Fang Yuan, revealing he knows Fang Yuan’s name, and challenges him to escape the dream realm again, now at rank eight. He calls Fang Yuan an otherworldly demon still useful to Shadow Sect whose life he will spare, warns that Old Man Yan Shi has already deduced Spring Autumn Cicada and that it cannot be used as it stands, and Fang Yuan’s body shakes. ^{ch. 1011}
