Chapter 1012

A hundred thousand years earlier, a battle ends on Xuan Ci Mountain, Southern Border. More than ten Gu Master corpses lie on the slope, and only two fighters remain standing. A young Gu Master with blood-red eyes walks laughing toward the other survivor, his own grandfather, an old Gu Master too heavily injured to fight on. The old man demands to know why his grandson attacked the clan’s higher-ups after all he taught him. ^{ch. 1012}

The young man says he never really considered a reason: demands to endure, defer to elders, and defend the clan’s reputation had annoyed him since childhood, until he finally stopped enduring it. The grandfather, furious then sobbing, calls himself blind to have raised him. His crying makes the young man extremely annoyed. With one stroke he cuts the old man in two, who dies unsatisfied. ^{ch. 1012}

Alone with the body, he laughs, then weeps, his face showing sorrow yet utter satisfaction. He asks aloud whether this is freedom, granting that he is very sad, and vows that from now on he will kill whatever annoys him. A hundred thousand years later, lightning still lights that same face. Its owner is now Spectral Soul Demon Venerable, entirely different: a monster thousands of meters tall with three heads and a thousand arms. ^{ch. 1012}

Spectral Soul tears the tornadoes apart with his thousand arms, and the lightning vanishes completely under his wrath. The clouds disperse and the sun returns: the myriad tribulation Wind Lightning Prison is resolved by him alone. Fang Yuan’s side and Heavenly Court’s Gu Immortals alike are shocked. Bo Qing and Ying Wu Xie think they have won, but the sky darkens again as a second myriad tribulation gathers above Spectral Soul’s head. ^{ch. 1012}

Spectral Soul stabs hundreds of arms into dark clouds at his own waist. Heavenly Court’s Gu Immortals recognize the ten extreme formation shaking under his help and move to stop him. Heaven Overseeing Tower turns phantom, strikes Spectral Soul’s right head and caves the face in, then evades his grasping hands by turning phantom again, which leaves six Heavenly Court rank eight Gu Immortals breathing hard after two uses. With Spectral Soul’s help the formation’s clouds gather into a spinning, fourteen-colored ball, and Heaven Overseeing Tower chops off the arms he had used. ^{ch. 1012}

Bo Qing sends Ying Wu Xie to deal with Heavenly Court’s Gu Immortals instead. Ying Wu Xie first puts Fang Yuan to sleep with the rank eight killer move Lead Soul Into Dream, dragging him before Star Constellation Immortal Venerable again. Fang Yuan’s rank six unravel dream cannot break the rank eight dream, and he knows he has lost. Heaven Overseeing Tower dodges again in phantom form, but one of Spectral Soul’s heads immobilizes it, unable to turn solid. ^{ch. 1012}

Hei Lou Lan and Tai Bai Yun Sheng shout for Fang Yuan. He is too deep asleep to wake. Bo Qing is about to kill them both when grand tribulation Earth Collapse drags everyone into the ground, a trap he and Ying Wu Xie did not see coming. Hei Lou Lan and Tai Bai Yun Sheng, unlike Bo Qing and Ying Wu Xie, land free to move, and Tai Bai Yun Sheng grabs the sleeping Fang Yuan and retreats. The formation’s finished ball has also freed the space around them, so they could all escape by Fang Yuan’s Fixed Immortal Travel if he woke, but he stays asleep. Bo Qing moves to strike with his sword path Immortal Gu, but feels his own thoughts sucked into the ground, and can only watch Hei Lou Lan and the others escape. ^{ch. 1012}
