Ying Wu Xie

After Yan Shi and other Shadow Sect Gu Immortals sacrifice their souls into the formation, the young Gu Immortal Ying Wu Xie stands at a formation core among ten, looking around with curiosity. He has begun life fourteen hours ago. Yan Shi had told him he was born from a dream realm, has eighteen hours of lifespan in total, rises one rank every two hours, has just advanced to rank seven with four hours remaining, and will be their strongest after Yan Shi dies. When he wants to help against Ren Hai Yang, a black robed Gu Immortal stops him: stay at the core, do not move recklessly. ^{ch. 968}

When four Southern Border rank eights charge him, he recalls opening his eyes in a dream realm and seeing Yan Shi first. Yan Shi names the body Pure Dream Reality Seeker Physique, the greatest accomplishment of his dream path research, and says that since Bo Qing is dead, this youth will replace him as their greatest strength. Asked who they are, Yan Shi answers that he is the youth and the youth is him, that he is Old Man Yan Shi, and that the youth shall be called Ying Wu Xie. He imparts an immortal killer move with no killing power, the pinnacle of dream path achievement in the five regions at that time. Ying Wu Xie then uses lead soul into dream. Jia Yi falls asleep at rank eight, his defenses fail, and falling star lightning kills him. The enemy is only rank seven, yet Jia Yi cannot resist. ^{ch. 969}

Old Man Yan Shi discovers that any soul residing in the Pure Dream Reality Seeker Physique falls asleep and, even after he removes the sleeping weakness, keeps losing its memories continuously as time passes. When the youth wakes, Yan Shi tells him that many of Bo Qing’s Immortal Gu were robbed and his battle strength has fallen, and that he will replace Bo Qing as their greatest strength in suppressing the situation. ^{ch. 1001}

Twelve hours after his birth and already rank six, Ying Wu Xie is told by Old Man Yan Shi to remember everything that has been passed on to him, and blinks innocently as he answers that Yan Shi can go ahead and die and need not worry about him, still very ignorant of the world and of life and death. Because the physique erodes his memories faster the more he is given, transferring a large body of information into his mind is useless, and only what he memorises himself takes hold. ^{ch. 1002}

Newly at rank seven, Ying Wu Xie uses Lead Soul Into Dream on Fang Yuan four times in the battle over Graceful Chaotic Duel Stage, and Fang Yuan escapes the dream realm every time using unravel dream. ^{ch. 1006}

Having advanced to rank eight dream path, Ying Wu Xie succeeds at the rank eight killer move on his third attempt after two failures and sends Heaven Overseeing Tower Lord into a dream realm; his earlier attempts on Fang Yuan had been useless, Fang Yuan kept entering and leaving the dream, and Seven Star Child tells him Yan Shi did not create him in vain. ^{ch. 1009} Even after Heaven Overseeing Tower Lord escapes, each Heavenly Court Gu Immortal who takes his place at the tower’s helm falls into a dream in turn, tying down the rank nine Immortal Gu House by himself. ^{ch. 1010}

Confident of victory, Ying Wu Xie blocks Fang Yuan and tells him that as an otherworldly demon he is still useful to Shadow Sect and will be spared, and that Old Man Yan Shi has already deduced Spring Autumn Cicada, so it cannot be used. ^{ch. 1011}

The myriad tribulation grey memory, which draws out a Gu Immortal’s most painful memories, does not touch Ying Wu Xie; immortal zombie Bo Qing tells him it is because he was only just born with eighteen hours to live and has had no time to experience such things. ^{ch. 1013 ch. 1014}

At the last moment, as Spectral Soul is about to enter the newly refined sovereign immortal fetus Gu, Ying Wu Xie grabs him and uses Lead Soul Into Dream, letting Fang Yuan’s soul take the Immortal Gu instead. ^{ch. 1018}

Spectral Soul Demon Venerable’s will, in a dark red space after a red lotus opens, tells Ying Wu Xie’s will that he can also be considered a split soul of the main body, and that the Pure Dream Reality Seeker Physique dissipated his memories. ^{ch. 1022} Ying Wu Xie’s soul was a split soul of Spectral Soul Demon Venerable. The childlike manner came from that physique erasing memories. After the imparting of Spectral Soul’s will in the Red Lotus true inheritance, those memories recover to some degree. ^{ch. 1026}

Weighing recruiting Hei Lou Lan against killing her, since breaking her information path alliance agreement might release Fang Yuan from it as well, while her death would leave Fang Yuan bound and leave her immortal aperture and Great Strength True Martial Physique behind, Ying Wu Xie reaches his decision on her life after considering the costs and benefits. ^{ch. 1037}

Needing the light of the immemorial era to refine Fixed Immortal Travel, Ying Wu Xie pays Feng Chan Zi’s messenger an extra thirty percent over the asking price. Inspecting his own luck afterward, he works out that it improved because Fang Yuan is using dog shit luck Immortal Gu, their luck still connected since the swap at Yi Tian Mountain, and resolves that he will reclaim his old body one day. ^{ch. 1060}

Heavenly Court pays a huge price in a fragment of immemorial yellow heaven to make treasure yellow heaven’s heavenly spirit close the market and block Ying Wu Xie’s transactions, cutting off his last way out; he can only let Heavenly Court deduce while he and the rest defend and stall for time. ^{ch. 1073}

Sixth Hair, passing intelligence to Fang Yuan, identifies the body Old Man Yan Shi made for Ying Wu Xie as the eleventh extreme physique. ^{ch. 1075}

Ying Wu Xie has already changed to another strength path immortal zombie’s body. That vessel is too old: its immortal aperture had already broken apart, so what he obtained was only the physical body, unlike Fang Yuan’s zombie body, which held both a mortal aperture and an immortal aperture. This makes it very inconvenient for him to use Gu worms: immortal and mortal Gu alike can only live in parts of the body such as skin, hair, blood, and bones, which leaks their aura and makes it easier for enemies to inspect, is not safe, and could very well see the worms meet a terrible fate if the body takes a hit. Intercepted near the turbulent flow sea area as the group leaves Eastern Sea, Ying Wu Xie recognizes Fang Yuan by his luck signature, which matches Hei Lou Lan’s through Connect Luck, and immediately orders a retreat with the ancient battle formation Omni-directional Travel, leaving the newly recruited Liu Qing Yu behind. ^{ch. 1151}

Working out that Fang Yuan is tracking the group through the luck he shares with them by way of Connect Luck, Ying Wu Xie enters Shi Nu’s immortal aperture and finds that doing so, combined with his own soul path methods, stops the luck signature from being sensed. ^{ch. 1153}

Cornered again at Eastern Sea’s blue water regional wall and judging Fang Yuan’s newly deduced killer move too dangerous to face, Ying Wu Xie decides the group must cross into Northern Plains and reach Snowy Mountain blessed land, relying on its rank eight Gu Immortal against Fang Yuan. ^{ch. 1253}

Fighting Fang Yuan inside the regional wall, Ying Wu Xie’s Soul Howl covers the whole sky and staggers Fang Yuan’s attack without touching any of the immortals fighting beside him, showing his exact control over the move. ^{ch. 1257}

While Fang Yuan fights him and four Shadow Sect allies inside a regional wall, the narration places Ying Wu Xie among Spectral Soul’s main split souls and names him Shadow Sect’s final hope. The same passage adds that his attainment in soul path is astonishing. ^{ch. 1259}

When Shi Nu stays behind to hold off Fang Yuan and tells him to leave, Ying Wu Xie tells him he will remember his loyalty, then retreats with the other two immortals, Hei Lou Lan and Bai Ning Bing. ^{ch. 1260} Because Shi Nu holds Fang Yuan back, they escape the licorice regional wall into Northern Plains, where Ying Wu Xie takes Tai Bai Yun Sheng, already awake but severely injured and still in danger of dying, out of his immortal aperture. Combining the four immortals’ power, they activate the ancient battle formation Omni-directional Travel and disappear from the spot. ^{ch. 1261}

Later, with Shi Nu already dead, Ying Wu Xie’s plan at Dark Flow Giant City in Earth Trench is to stall Fang Yuan with Sixth Hair’s help and the mortal Gu house’s yaksha octopuses until Omni-directional Travel can be used again. ^{ch. 1264}

Ying Wu Xie pulls Tai Bai Yun Sheng onto a king lotus leaf during the Reverse Flow River chase and credits his own good luck to his connection with Fang Yuan. ^{ch. 1275} After Tai Bai Yun Sheng stays behind and is killed holding Fang Yuan off, Ying Wu Xie swims upstream to reach the raving Purple Mountain True Monarch, who rides on him alternating between madness and lucidity. ^{ch. 1279} Naming himself only a split soul of the main body who has not lived long, he calls himself Shadow Sect’s only hope and resolves to keep going even at the point of exhaustion. ^{ch. 1281} When Purple Mountain True Monarch regains a moment of clarity, he frees Ying Wu Xie from Fang Yuan’s grasp and carries him away downstream. ^{ch. 1282} Watching Fang Yuan conquer Reverse Flow River afterward, Ying Wu Xie judges he would kill Fang Yuan given the chance, but stays silent and keeps a low profile. ^{ch. 1286}

He reports to Purple Mountain True Monarch that Southern Border’s political situation is going to plan, but that Chi Shang and Wu Yi Hai failed to have the intense conflict Shadow Sect hoped for and became good friends instead. He notes that Wu Yong now holds great authority as a rank eight Gu Immortal, and that Wu Yi Hai, only recently returned and without Qiao clan’s full support, still shows ambition by getting close to Qiao Si Liu without settling a profit split with her clan. ^{ch. 1333}

Hearing Purple Mountain True Monarch explain how he influenced Tai Bai Yun Sheng and other pawns inside heaven’s will’s own plans, Ying Wu Xie realizes that these influenced pawns will be the strength that breaks the super Gu formation and rescues their main body. ^{ch. 1334}

When Zuo Ye Hui’s grey night breaches the righteous path’s super Gu formation, Ying Wu Xie leads the recruited demonic path and lone immortals in the attack, offering several times the reward to whoever kills enemies and widens the hole. ^{ch. 1350}

With Purple Mountain True Monarch still suppressed by Duke Long, Ying Wu Xie gambles on directions fed to him by Fang Yuan, who is secretly posing as the righteous path’s Wu Yi Hai and redirecting Southern Border Gu Immortals out of his way. Reaching a rank seven cocoon of light, Ying Wu Xie abandons his rank six immortal zombie body for the new rank seven dream path body forming inside it, then immediately uses Lead Soul Into Dream on Duke Long. ^{ch. 1364}

Depleted and lifeless after the fighting, Ying Wu Xie is revived when Fang Yuan lands the immortal killer move soaring fighting spirit on him; he wakes vowing to destroy fate Gu and free Spectral Soul’s captured main body from Heavenly Court, and declares that since Purple Mountain True Monarch has acknowledged Fang Yuan as an otherworldly demon, he will follow him too. ^{ch. 1396} Fang Yuan then uses change soul Immortal Gu to switch Ying Wu Xie’s soul into the captured Fairy Cui Bo’s body, and gives him a large stock of mortal Gu, Immortal Gu, and immortal essence stones, wanting his battle strength rather than Lead Soul Into Dream for now. ^{ch. 1397}

Fang Yuan uses burning soul bursting luck himself rather than through Ying Wu Xie, reasoning that too many people are luck connected to him for the boost to reach Fang Yuan in full if channeled through Ying Wu Xie. ^{ch. 1443}

Because Ying Wu Xie has already been inside Fang Yuan’s sovereign immortal aperture, Fang Yuan sees no need to hide it from Sixth Hair either. ^{ch. 1479}

After Fairy Zi Wei and Old Man Zheng Yuan force Bai Ning Bing to surrender, they obtain Ying Wu Xie’s whereabouts. His mission had been to rescue his main body. He could not enter Heavenly Court, and after the fate war he wandered Central Continent, resenting Fang Yuan for not saving Spectral Soul’s main body. After Fairy Zi Wei provides enough evidence that the main body is no longer in Heavenly Court and has gotten free, Ying Wu Xie is exulted, abandons Fang Yuan, and joins Fairy Zi Wei’s group. ^{ch. 2017}
