During the later chase after Imperial Court collapses, Xue Song Zi demands why Hei Cheng could not stop fleeing targets and names him a rank seven Gu Immortal. ^{ch. 678}

Watching Qin Bai Sheng destroy an Immortal Gu rather than trust it, Hei Cheng is a little surprised and cannot help but feel a sense of admiration for that self-confidence. ^{ch. 771}

As the hundred days battle at Luo Po valley collapses around Shadow Sect’s escaping members, Hei Cheng, who has the lowest battle strength among them, abandons the Immortal Gu House Dark Prison and flees alone. ^{ch. 925}

Because Dark Prison’s core Immortal Gu belonged to Hei tribe’s four supreme elders and the Central Continent Gu Immortals who took it divide it up among their own sects, Hei tribe judges Hei Cheng at fault for its loss, but his oath to keep Shadow Sect’s activities secret stops him from explaining himself, so he can only flee from his own tribe’s pursuit as well. ^{ch. 940}

Hei Lou Lan brings Fang Yuan and Fairy Li Shan to Xiao Hun blessed land, the blessed land Hei Cheng left behind, where the land spirit attaches itself to Su Xian Er’s familial emotion and makes her its master, since its ownership condition was to stay with Su Xian Er forever. Fang Yuan is surprised that Hei Cheng’s final obsession before his death was Su Xian Er, and that even in the moments of his death he was thinking of her. ^{ch. 953}

Although Hei Cheng is her own father, the hatred between them runs so deep that Hei Lou Lan will not rest until he is dead, and killing him has become her greatest obsession. In Fang Yuan’s previous life she had already killed Hei Cheng, taken back self strength Immortal Gu and dispelled that scar in her mind, so that her strength path phantoms took her own appearance rather than a brawny burly man’s. ^{ch. 974}

Fang Yuan dismisses him as a stray dog, probably in a worse state than he was in Fang Yuan’s previous life, with his Immortal Gu House already lost in Luo Po valley, heavy injuries on him, and only dark arrow Immortal Gu left. ^{ch. 989} Fang Yuan has the featherman Zhou Zhong tail him, traps him while disguised as Old Lord Can Yang, wears him down with the star soul battlefield until he screams surrender, and takes him alive instead of killing him. He is carried to Hu Immortal blessed land as a captive for a thorough soul search, rated as worth a large sum if sold back to Hei Lou Lan. ^{ch. 990} Fang Yuan later uses a black, oil-like defensive killer move obtained by searching Hei Cheng’s soul. ^{ch. 1040}

Because Hei Lou Lan no longer holds his soul in this life, she has no way to locate Luo Po valley, and Fang Yuan keeps its whereabouts from her. ^{ch. 992}

Ying Wu Xie reasons that Hei Lou Lan will endure Shadow Sect’s control for now, since she has not yet taken revenge while Hei Cheng is still alive. ^{ch. 1031}

He is publicly recognized as a handsome man in Northern Plains and has a gentlemanly grace. ^{ch. 1120}

Fang Yuan can recognize Lady Earth Mother’s true identity as Hei tribe’s long-missing Hei Feng Yue only because he had earlier soul searched Hei Cheng. ^{ch. 1144}

Dark arrow Immortal Gu, the last one he had left, self-detonates, so Fang Yuan never obtains it from him. He is still counted among Fang Yuan’s captives at that point, held with his body intact. ^{ch. 1291}

Fang Yuan recalls that Hei Cheng had only borrowed Dark Prison, and gained his authority over it, because the four Hei tribe supreme elders were forced to stay together and could not go out alone. ^{ch. 1370}

Even after Hei tribe is destroyed, Hei Cheng is still alive, which Hei Lou Lan calls her greatest regret. ^{ch. 1385}

Fang Yuan still holds Hei Cheng’s whole living body alongside the souls of Fairy Cui Bo, Liu tribe’s Liu Yong, and Ma Hong Yun. ^{ch. 1446}
