A fight sprung when Fang Yuan teleports in to pull Hei Lou Lan away from her father Hei Cheng and the demonic path Gu Immortal Xue Song Zi, and both move to stop him before he can leave with her.
Hei Cheng and Xue Song Zi have come to press Hei Lou Lan, at a standstill with her over the yin-yang life extension method that killed her mother, when a jade green light brings Fang Yuan down beside her. He tells her to enter his immortal aperture so he can carry her off, and she does, while he answers Xue Song Zi’s shock with the plain word that he is here to kill them. ch. 677
Xue Song Zi commits icy wind blade wheel, a carriage sized blade of wind driven ice that Fang Yuan judges worth at least three immortal essence stones on sight, and Fang Yuan answers it with light illusion bat wings to dodge clear. Hei Cheng commits his trump card from the outset, the Immortal Gu Dark Arrow, a small black arrow that homes on its target and turns to follow no matter how Fang Yuan dodges, aimed at the one point an immortal zombie’s body cannot shrug off, the brain. Fang Yuan cannot shake the first arrow with mortal movement alone, and Hei Cheng looses a second dark arrow after it, calling it an honor that Fang Yuan forced him to use two of the three dark arrows his rank six Dark Arrow can loose together. With both arrows converging on him at once, Fang Yuan is forced to reveal the Immortal Gu Worldly Wave Trace to put real distance between them. ch. 677
Outcome
Fang Yuan tells them to enjoy what time they have left and activates Fixed Immortal Travel; three breaths later he is gone, and the two dark arrows chasing him strike only the trace of jade light left at his former spot. Hei Cheng reasons that without an Immortal Gu that can seal the area, they could only watch him escape, and that the tracking method he had already placed on Hei Lou Lan means he will find her again if she surfaces in Northern Plains. From the encounter, Hei Cheng and Xue Song Zi conclude that Fang Yuan’s two movement Immortal Gu were most likely lent to him by another Gu Immortal, and that Fixed Immortal Travel and Worldly Wave Trace both point toward Central Continent, a clue Hei Cheng resolves to chase to find who is truly backing Hei Lou Lan. ch. 678
