Dark Vortex is Hei Lou Lan's Hei tribe killer move. It gathers dark streams into a black sphere that expands and crushes what it presses.
During the Imperial Court contest, Hei Lou Lan answers Dong Fang tribe’s Three Hearts Combination Soul by naming Hei tribe’s dark vortex and casting it. Aura at rank five rises as primeval essence pours into four Gu; dark streams rise, converge in his right claw, and form a fist-sized dark sphere that then expands to hill size and presses down so nearby experts can barely move. ch. 511
Opposing move
Dong Fang Yu Liang has already prepared cloud whirlpool to swallow the sphere, a move he spent three years designing against dark vortex. The whirlpool sucks in the vortex so Hei Lou Lan cannot simply pull it back. ch. 511

Hei Lou Lan improves dark vortex in secret, including a space path Gu that locks the surrounding space when the vortex explodes, so Dong Fang Yu Liang’s escape methods for Wei Xin, Jiang Wan Shan, and E Xuan Ming fail. Everything within the explosion radius is eroded into nothingness, and those three die while still in three hearts combination soul, which collapses their mixed beast group. The improved cast is self-harming: most of the Gu that form dark vortex die, and Hei Lou Lan takes heavy backlash. ch. 513
