Old Man Yan Shi

From Shadow Sect blessed land he watches Fang Yuan buy wolves in bulk through treasure yellow heaven and fails ordinary deductions because he lacks the fact that Fang Yuan is from the future. His vital Gu is named Heavenly Secret, a rank seven Immortal Gu that can expose secrets without ordinary evidence, but he judges success rare and backlash as ten to seventy years of lifespan lost while soul and body stay intact. He already spent a hundred and fifty years of lifespan to deduce that Fang Yuan held Fixed Immortal Travel Gu and was in Hu Immortal blessed land, and that Fang Yuan would later return to southern border for the Yi Tian mountain battle, then declines another use over the wolf buying and instead bulk-buys wolf enslavement Gu materials to obstruct Fang Yuan. ^{ch. 492} A later account says heavenly secret Immortal Gu was created by Paradise Earth Immortal Venerable, later refined by Spectral Soul Demon Venerable’s split soul Old Man Yan Shi, and destroyed in the battle of Yi Tian Mountain. The same stretch says he created only a few killer moves for it under Shadow Sect’s plans, that exposing heavenly secret was the most valuable, and that heaven’s will dissipation was his incomplete creation when Fang Yuan obtained it. ^{ch. 1476}

He appears with over ten black-robed Gu Immortals, encircles Southern Border Gu Immortals, and points out a descending tribulation while a Gu formation blocks Berserk Wind Jia Yi’s wind sickles. With him at the lead, Shadow Sect’s immortals hold a giant formation that traps those Southern Border immortals under successive tribulations, and he calls a young Gu Immortal Wu Xie while watching the field. ^{ch. 967} He tells Wu Xie that he and other Gu Immortals will sacrifice their souls to raise the formation to ninety percent completion, that Wu Xie was born from a dream realm with eighteen hours of lifespan and a rank rise every two hours, and that after his death Wu Xie will be their strongest remaining force. Before dying he spends remaining lifespan on a deduction, forces out a warning to be careful of one of them and of failure, then turns to powder and dissipates while his soul merges into the formation with other Shadow Sect Gu Immortals. ^{ch. 968}

Ying Wu Xie’s recollection places his birth from a dream realm with Old Man Yan Shi as the first person he sees, and Yan Shi names the body Pure Dream Reality Seeker Physique as the greatest accomplishment of his dream path research, then names the youth Ying Wu Xie and imparts an immortal killer move under a tight time limit. ^{ch. 969} A later scene shows him completing that body with rule path become real Immortal Gu after Spectral Soul Demon Venerable’s dream realm dissipates in life and death blessed land, finding that any soul inside falls asleep and loses memories, waking the soul at the cost of nearly all memories, and treating the flawed body as consumable rank nine battle strength for their plan. ^{ch. 1001} Narration states that Shadow Sect Gu Immortals are Spectral Soul Demon Venerable’s split souls, and that those Gu Immortals, including Seven Star Child and Song Zi Xing, make the same sacrificial choice Yan Shi already made by entering the formation. ^{ch. 1011} Sixth Hair later names Old Man Yan Shi as one of their split souls who found Fang Yuan’s Spring Autumn Cicada after Three Kings blessed land and blocked deductions that redirected Central Continent Gu Immortals toward Luo Po Valley. ^{ch. 1076}
