Chapter 1009

Heaven Overseeing Tower Lord, atop his Tower, believes the battle is over: Sacred Feather City lies in rubble, Bo Qing and Seven Star Child have fallen as corpses, and Graceful Chaotic Duel Stage is heavily damaged with the corpses inside mostly in pieces. He laughs that this is what defying heaven’s will earns. Seconds later he frowns: the damaged Tower should not have been able to fire fate’s strongest attack. Faint voices call him to wake, and he realizes the truth: he has fallen into a trap, and everything around him is a dream. Both sides died too easily, and the other Heavenly Court Gu Immortals are missing, leaving him alone. He confirms he is dreaming, but unlike Fang Yuan he has no unravel dream, so he cannot escape. ^{ch. 1009}

In truth he lies asleep on the ground, snoring loudly, surrounded by Heavenly Court’s Gu Immortals. Old and worn out from refining Gu to repair fate Immortal Gu, repairing the Tower, guarding Heavenly Lotus Sect, fighting Bo Qing and then travelling to Yi Tian Mountain without rest, he falls at once into deep sleep. Water, fire and shouting fail to wake him. This is dream path’s power, beyond this era, and even these rank eight immortals cannot break it. ^{ch. 1009}

Ying Wu Xie’s Pure Dream Reality Seeker Physique has advanced him to rank eight dream path, letting him use the killer move Lead Soul Into Dream. His third attempt succeeds, trapping Heaven Overseeing Tower Lord, and Shadow Sect’s pressure eases at once. Seven Star Child asks how long the trap will hold. Ying Wu Xie answers that a rank eight who has passed one myriad tribulation can only be held several minutes, though he can retrap him each time he wakes. Seven Star Child says Yan Shi did not create him in vain. Heaven Overseeing Tower moves again, not because its lord escaped but because the other Heavenly Court Gu Immortals, who inherited it after Star Constellation Immortal Venerable’s death, have taken over while he sleeps. He asks if Fang Yuan can use Fixed Immortal Travel again; Fang Yuan cannot. Hei Lou Lan smiles bitterly that they are dead meat now, unable to avenge her mother on Hei Cheng. After the third grand tribulation, Sacred Feather City and Graceful Chaotic Duel Stage have both broken apart, and the ten extreme formation alone is already beyond their survival. Shadow Sect’s Gu Immortals, who barely endured the first three, feel heaven’s animosity leave them no way out, their Immortal Gu House gone and unable to stop these two even by total sacrifice. Hei Lou Lan sighs that they will die here after all. Fang Yuan disagrees: Shadow Sect has already paid an unheard-of price, killing Southern Border’s Gu Immortals for material, sacrificing all of Zombie Alliance and losing seven Immortal Gu Houses, and will not give up now. ^{ch. 1009}

Fairy Li Shan gives up resisting, blood running from her seven orifices, remarking that dying by heaven’s might beats dying old in bed. An overwhelming aura bursts from Yi Tian Mountain’s ruins as an aperture opens: Shadow Sect’s blessed land, the headquarters Bai Ning Bing could never find. Shadow Sect’s Gu Immortals rejoice that their main body has appeared. A huge, monstrous ghostly hand emerges with a shockwave that shatters rock, and the newly woken Heaven Overseeing Tower Lord names its owner: Spectral Soul Demon Venerable. ^{ch. 1009}
