Purple Mountain True Monarch

Fang Yuan reflects that the fabricated Purple Mountain True Monarch, first invented to deceive Tai Bai Yun Sheng, has become his greatest trump card while negotiating with Blazing Heaven Demoness. ^{ch. 946}

When Fang Yuan reveals knowledge of her secret attitude Gu, Hei Lou Lan concludes it must be Purple Mountain True Monarch’s doing, believing he indeed has vast and unfathomable powers. ^{ch. 974}

Fang Yuan credits Purple Mountain True Monarch with predicting a calamity, deepening Hei Lou Lan’s and Fairy Li Shan’s apprehension toward his fabricated master. ^{ch. 978}

In the scenes grey memory exposes, five of Shadow Sect’s immortals gather again after Blue falls deep into a dream realm, where Purple says he has a bad feeling that he is next after Azure and Blue, and calls that a wisdom path Gu Immortal’s prediction rather than overthinking. He names Gu Immortal Da Li as the one who will take over his position after he is gone. ^{ch. 1016}

During the Yi Tian Mountain grey-memory stretch, Fang Yuan realizes that Purple, one of Spectral Soul Demon Venerable’s split souls, is Tai Bai Yun Sheng’s master Purple Mountain True Monarch, the figure he had randomly named. ^{ch. 1020}

He is about the size of an adult’s thumb and has two thin purple wings on his back. His eyes are a bright and deep purple. He is a rank eight miniman Gu Immortal. ^{ch. 1269}

He uses an immortal killer move and his body rapidly expands like a balloon to normal human size. The wings on his back vanish, and on the outside he looks like a normal human. He is an unimpressive old man, even looking a little dishevelled. His only special feature is his purple hair, so messy that he resembles a beggar. He smiles and exposes uneven yellow teeth. He tells Old Ancestor Xue Hu to call him Purple Mountain True Monarch. ^{ch. 1270}

He is in his original form, a rank eight miniman Gu Immortal who had turned large using an immortal method. In Reverse Flow River he becomes a miniman again and sits on Old Ancestor Xue Hu’s shoulder. ^{ch. 1275}

He was a miniman Gu Immortal who used big Immortal Gu to expand into human form. ^{ch. 1415}

Purple Mountain True Monarch is tasked with defending Snowy Mountain blessed land, the foundation on which the fate reversing sacrificial refinement formation stands. ^{ch. 1271}

Ninety thousand years ago heaven’s will attacked him, and he sealed himself and turned into a purple-gold rock to survive it. Swimming in Reverse Flow River, he tells himself that heaven’s will still sends him into a crazy state at times. He is closing on Ma Hong Yun and Zhao Lian Yun when he seizes his head, screams in pain, and falls into madness, drifting downstream with the current. Ying Wu Xie, who has been trailing him as insurance against exactly this, grabs hold of him, and the four swim upstream together. ^{ch. 1280}

In Reverse Flow River he is a wisdom path Gu Immortal with deep wisdom path dao mark accumulation. ^{ch. 1282}

He was a first generation split soul Purple whose wisdom path methods could contest Duke Long, and most of those Immortal Gu go to Fang Yuan. ^{ch. 1465}

On the Snowy Mountain trip Ying Wu Xie saves him, though Shi Nu and Tai Bai Yun Sheng die in battle. Once awake he leads Shadow Sect again, and Ying Wu Xie steps down. ^{ch. 1290}

Ying Wu Xie’s group carries him through the regional wall as an inert purple gold rock and revives him from hibernation once they reach Eastern Sea. ^{ch. 1294}

In hiding within Plunder Shadow Earth Trench with the rest of Shadow Sect’s surviving party of four, he tells Ying Wu Xie to call him Purple Mountain True Monarch again, saying the name will help their future actions. He states that Wu clan is Southern Border’s pillar of the righteous path, and that if it falls into political turmoil the group can take the opportunity to destroy the super Gu formation and save their main body. It is the narration, not him, that reveals Wu clan’s political problems were not simple and that Shadow Sect was behind them. ^{ch. 1333}

He admits that his recurring insanity is his own doing: he devised a method of assimilating with heaven’s will, using part of Star Constellation Immortal Venerable’s true inheritance together with his own wisdom path attainment, and going crazy is the price of pretending to surrender to it in order to learn its secrets and weaknesses. Through this method he had already influenced Tai Bai Yun Sheng, one of heaven’s will’s own crucial pawns, and turned that influence into the power that let Ying Wu Xie and the others escape. ^{ch. 1334}

At black demon pit he calls on the immemorial desolate beast Zuo Ye Hui, once given a true inheritance by him, to repay that favor by eating humans; when Zuo Ye Hui says it is sick of eating normal humans, he tells it not to worry, they are immortals, and there might even be rank eight Gu Immortals among them. Zuo Ye Hui agrees, saying it still wants to become human and owes the debt. ^{ch. 1336}

On a nameless mountain he meets a mysterious Gu Immortal covered in rainbow light and tells him that, however that immortal obtained the complete Seven Illusions true inheritance, the alliance agreement he has already made obliges him to do seven things for Purple Mountain True Monarch. He orders two killings: Wu Yi Ran, then Yao Geng. ^{ch. 1338}

At blood tide pit he immobilizes Wu Yuan Ju and Rong Hao, appearing thumb-sized on Rong Hao’s shoulder with wings that resemble a dragonfly’s, and his wisdom path methods freeze their thoughts and speech so neither can resist. With the two held, his rank eight aura bursts out and engulfs the surroundings, the blood tide below him calms, and he lets out a breath that is not eye catching as it floats into the pit and is quickly devoured by the rushing tide. He orders the mysterious Gu Immortal to kill both by mimicking Qiao Zhi Cai’s wooden statue murder rather than doing it himself, then leaves after cleaning up his traces. ^{ch. 1339}

Purple Mountain True Monarch reveals his rank eight aura, names the purple blood river formation trapping Wu Yong’s group, and states that he means to kill Wu Yong so Wu clan will fall into chaos. ^{ch. 1341}

Purple Mountain True Monarch vanishes early in the fight and pins Wu Yong down with sneak attacks, leaving Wu Yong greatly restricted. ^{ch. 1344}

Purple Mountain True Monarch bears huge costs to recruit a batch of demonic path Gu Immortals and lone immortals for Shadow Sect’s assault. ^{ch. 1350}

Purple Mountain True Monarch’s plan succeeds: he traps Wu Yong’s group to create a false image of Wu Yong’s death, throwing Southern Border’s politics into chaos. ^{ch. 1355}

Purple Mountain True Monarch spends the dream realm to form cocoons of light that hatch Pure Dream Reality Seeker Physique bodies, and as the first body falls from its cocoon large numbers of Gu worms fly out and enter its immortal aperture before it flies away. ^{ch. 1358}

Purple Mountain True Monarch is a first generation split soul of Spectral Soul Demon Venerable who has cultivated for a hundred thousand years. ^{ch. 1361}

Purple Mountain True Monarch’s purple starlight speck killer move carries a hidden effect: on contact with any immortal killer move, it feeds him fragments of information that expose that move’s secrets. ^{ch. 1363}

Purple Mountain True Monarch thanks Fang Yuan for bestowing the title Purple Mountain True Monarch and says he likes it. ^{ch. 1366}

Duke Long’s human qi retraction and earth qi retraction leave Purple Mountain True Monarch’s three qi out of balance and his immortal aperture a few breaths from breaking apart. He draws his own immortal aperture out of his body and places it in the outside world, where its entrance opens and begins taking in earth qi, though his lack of human qi leaves the grotto-heaven with little hope of salvation. ^{ch. 1367}

Having lost his immortal aperture, Purple Mountain True Monarch loses his cultivation foundation, and without the amplification of dao marks his battle strength falls to rock bottom. ^{ch. 1368}

He dies in combat against Duke Long after a hundred thousand years of half clarity and half insanity, and Fang Yuan accepts leadership of Shadow Sect as his final arrangement. ^{ch. 1372}

Fang Yuan understood the sovereign immortal body’s flaw, that it needs to devour immortal apertures, from Purple Mountain True Monarch. ^{ch. 1394}

Fang Yuan solves the second difficulty in modifying myriad self, that thoughts dispersed into his clones do not collectively benefit him, with immortal killer move Collective Thinking, a method from Purple Mountain True Monarch’s inheritance. ^{ch. 1426}

Purple Mountain True Monarch’s legacy, though abundant, amounts to less than one hundredth of Shadow Sect’s total inheritance and does not include Limitless Demon Venerable’s rule path true inheritance or Paradise Earth Immortal Venerable’s formation path true inheritance. ^{ch. 1435}
