Chapter 1339

At blood tide pit, Wu Yuan Ju and Rong Hao, the only two Gu Immortals available to Wu clan, work to reseal the tide. Its burst after Wu Yi Ran’s death caused a huge disaster and left its Gu formations undefended. The task is barely within their reach even together, and Wu clan has kept only one rank eight, Wu Yong, since Wu Du Xiu died. They push the tide back and the pit stabilizes. Its blood handprint Gu was once found there by a mortal Gu Master named Shang Yan Fei, Shang clan’s former leader, who later died at Yi Tian Mountain. A small figure appears on Rong Hao’s shoulder. It is Purple Mountain True Monarch in his miniman body, his rank eight aura concealed. His wisdom path methods seize both Gu Immortals’ thoughts, leaving Wu Yuan Ju and Rong Hao paralyzed and completely defenseless. He summons the mysterious Gu Immortal who holds the Seven Illusions true inheritance, reminds him of the debt from his alliance agreement, and orders him to kill both men using Qiao Zhi Cai’s signature move, wooden statue murder. Unable to refuse, the Gu Immortal destroys their souls and turns their bodies to wood, and Purple Mountain True Monarch lets the two statues fall into the blood tide before erasing his own traces and leaving. ^{ch. 1339}

He has lost three Gu Immortals, one rank seven and two rank six, a tremendous loss in so short a span. The corpses show the marks of wooden statue murder, and Wu Yong’s suspicion falls at once on Qiao Zhi Cai, Qiao clan’s first supreme elder and that move’s known user. Qiao Zhi Cai denies it and says he is being framed. Wu Yong outwardly accepts this, citing the marriage alliance between their clans, but presses to learn who is responsible, and reveals he has already summoned Tie clan’s Tie Mian Shen to investigate. ^{ch. 1339}
