Blood Sea Ancestor

The text first puts him on the page in a chapter titled for his name, when Fang Yuan meets rank three bladewing blood bat Gu in a blood lake under Qing Mao Mountain and recalls a prior-life Blood Sea inheritance. That same stretch states he was a rank seven demonic path Gu Master whose evil reputation resounded throughout the world and entered the historical record. ^{ch. 183} Later talk also calls him Ancestor Blood Sea when naming one of his true inheritances. ^{ch. 409}

Rise and Gu research

He began as a mortal, entered the demonic path by luck and destiny, rose from the lowest levels, and became an authority of the demonic path after eight hundred years. The text states he did not have high aptitude, so his aperture held limited primeval essence, and that this drove a crazed interest in researching Gu fusion. ^{ch. 183}

He poured effort into Gu that could still absorb natural primeval essence after a Gu Master refined them. Righteous Gu Masters feared that research succeeding, set countless traps, and moved in for the kill. He did not fully succeed, but he did produce fusion recipes for bladewing blood bat, Blood Frenzy Gu, and Blood Guillotine Gu. His first accomplishment was the rank three bladewing blood bat: easy to feed, still needing the Master’s primeval essence, with control of a male bat letting the Master command the female colony. Blood Frenzy Gu was his second, a rank four formless ball of blood essence that briefly let affected Gu absorb natural primeval essence before they left control and turned to blood. Blood Guillotine was his last, a rank five Gu that fused use and feeding, multiplied by swallowing Gu Master blood in war, and needed no primeval essence from its Master. ^{ch. 183}

Defeat and the inheritance campaign

After he created Blood Guillotine, battles and righteous-path entrapment defeated him. He took fatal wounds that could not heal, carved a bloody escape from the encirclement, and the righteous figures, fearing a final counterattack, let him go and later regretted that choice. Knowing death was certain, he used his rank seven cultivation in the time left to set up hundreds of thousands of inheritance grounds, stretching from the Middle Continent to the Southern Border and other places. Right before death he smiled and said the blood path was not alone and that the legacy would continue for all eternity. ^{ch. 183}

A later Immortal Crane Sect account restates the same scale: with the might of a rank seven Gu Immortal he set hundreds of thousands of sites, and before death laughed that blood path was not lonely and his mark would remain for all eternity. ^{ch. 183 ch. 407} The account names all five regions the sites spread across: Central Continent, Southern Border, Northern Plains, Western Desert, and Eastern Sea. ^{ch. 407}

Ordinary inheritances and the blood calamity

Most of those sites held only two or three Gu. Bladewing blood bat, Blood Frenzy Gu, and Blood Guillotine were easy to raise and multiply, so even Gu Masters of ordinary aptitude could use them, and many who found a legacy turned into mass killers, including some who had been righteous. Failures and temporary successes alike left new blood inheritances behind, so the blood calamity did not end with his death and instead thrived on those foundations. By the time of the Qing Mao stretch, Blood Sea Inheritances are already named the most popular inheritances in the world by number, with no competition. ^{ch. 183 ch. 407} Because of him, a blood path Gu Master is hunted by the righteous path the moment they appear, ^{ch. 591} and any person who cultivates blood path is judged a demonic path member in the five regions. ^{ch. 1262} Super forces also restrict blood path growth in public while researching it in secret. ^{ch. 1117}

Fang Yuan’s prior life found one ordinary inheritance after four hundred years and used bladewing blood bat colonies to become a regional overlord. ^{ch. 183} On Qing Mao Mountain, Lord Sky Crane and First gen Gu Yue once found a Blood Sea true treasure inheritance while chasing demonic cultivators; Lord Sky Crane obtained it, then First gen Gu Yue stole the Gu and fled. ^{ch. 192} Blood Skull Gu is one of the true inheritances of Blood Sea Ancestor. ^{ch. 195} Tie Ruo Nan later blames the blood sea inheritance for endless disasters and for her father’s death. ^{ch. 303}

How many true inheritances

Early rumor on Qing Mao Mountain says the hundreds of thousands of sites were diversions and that only a few true inheritances held his best Gu, research insights, or fusion recipes. ^{ch. 183} Later chapters do not keep one fixed count.

The seven count appears when Fang Yuan weighs a wisdom path inheritance against Blood Sea Ancestor dividing true inheritances into seven parts. ^{ch. 809} Later talk also calls him a great demon with seven Blood Sea true inheritances, ^{ch. 1157} and Wu clan talk says he left seven and names the blood tide pit as one. ^{ch. 1339} The nine count appears as Immortal Crane Sect rumor with a named list. ^{ch. 407} Later narration also calls violent blood dragon bat one of the nine, ^{ch. 409} and states that he set nine true inheritances among the hundreds of thousands of sites. ^{ch. 2014}

Early Immortal Crane Sect talk already places four shown pieces: Blood Skull Gu with Fang Yuan, blood handprint Gu with Southern Border’s Shang clan leader, and violent blood dragon bat with Song Zi Xing, while naming blood qi Gu, blood sweat Gu, menses blood Gu, blood shadow Gu, blood battle Gu, and rank six Immortal Gu blood deity among the nine. ^{ch. 407 ch. 409} Menses blood Gu is later raised to Immortal Gu level by Dong Fang Chang Fan. ^{ch. 789}

Later talk maps the nine Gu Immortal level true inheritances by region and outcome. Shang Yan Fei took the most: blood handprint Immortal Gu from Southern Border’s blood tide pit in his youth, then blood shadow Gu’s true inheritance. Northern Plains’ menses blood Immortal Gu went to Dong Fang Chang Fan. Western Desert’s blood qi Immortal Gu true inheritance went to Demon Immortal Qi Jue. Violent blood dragon bat went to Shadow Sect’s Song Zi Xing. Central Continent’s blood deity Immortal Gu true inheritance was fought over by the ten great ancient sects; over half was destroyed and an incomplete recipe reached Myriad Dragon Dock. Of the remaining three, a volcano destroyed blood skull Immortal Gu’s true inheritance, blood sweat Gu was taken mysteriously and never shown in public, and blood battle Gu’s true inheritance was destroyed by an immemorial desolate beast. ^{ch. 2246} Wu clan talk matches the pit as a meticulously arranged site where Shang Yan Fei obtained blood handprint Gu, after which Wu clan held the pit as a resource point once the inheritance was gone. ^{ch. 1339 ch. 1341} Blood path itself is treated as a short-history path whose noteworthy founder figure is Blood Sea Ancestor. ^{ch. 1064}
