Chapter 1064

After the battle of Yi Tian Mountain, Fang Yuan holds a living body again. He weighs which path to follow. In his previous life he chose blood path, his one decent fortuitous encounter of that life. ^{ch. 1064}

After rebirth he set it aside for strength path instead. The five regions were still orderly, the chaotic war period not yet come, so blood path could not flourish, and his best fortuitous encounters fell along strength path. Both choices carry real flaws. Blood path draws animosity from the whole world, and strength path is declining still, even after Chu Du added the human jun strength branch. ^{ch. 1064}

Since rebirth, his fortuitous encounters have been plentiful and very high grade: wisdom path from Dong Fang Chang Fan’s inheritance, luck and theft path from others, and star path from Star Lord Wan Xiang’s. Star path and wisdom path both surpass blood and strength path. ^{ch. 1064}

A path is chosen for immediate needs as well as prospects, though. Dong Fang Chang Fan’s own inheritance excels at deduction rather than combat. That route does not suit Fang Yuan. He is surrounded by enemies: Ying Wu Xie, Shadow Sect’s remnants, Heavenly Court, the ten great ancient sects, and the Huang Jin tribes. Yi Tian Mountain has nearly completely exposed Spring Autumn Cicada, his otherworldly demon status, and the crime of Imperial Court blessed land. ^{ch. 1064}

He needs battle strength now. Metal, fire, lightning, sword and blood path are the five recognized as highest in battle strength, the first three mainstream for an extremely long time, the last two new and resting mostly on Bo Qing and Blood Sea Ancestor, their foundation thinner for it. His attainment in metal, fire, and lightning path is ordinary and uninherited, but he is a blood path grandmaster and holds many of Bo Qing’s sword path Immortal Gu despite ordinary attainment there. ^{ch. 1064}

Four of his paths sit at grandmaster. Blood path rests on his previous life’s foundation, strength path on both lives, and wisdom and star path came by chance and rose fast in the dream realm. Below those, refinement path is quasi-grandmaster and good even among Gu Immortals, enslavement path only master, luck path quasi-master, most others ordinary, and phantom path blank. Blood path is hated and strength path declining, though, while wisdom and star path are not outstanding in battle strength and the Immortal Gu he built toward them are already lost, some perhaps destroyed in Ying Wu Xie’s hands, a huge obstacle. ^{ch. 1064}

Left truly lost after Yi Tian Mountain, Fang Yuan finds hope only once he grasps his body’s profoundness. It carries over a thousand dao marks spanning every path. Those marks do not interfere with or weaken one another at all, though, a discovery outside common sense that he traces to sovereign immortal fetus Gu. Fang Yuan feels immensely joyful, since the benefit is his alone, letting him cultivate every path in history at once. Even the Immortal Venerables and Demon Venerables kept to one main path and a second, so his prospects surpass theirs. ^{ch. 1064}

He calms himself quickly, since it remains only a dream without the time, resources, and safety he currently lacks. Forging an entirely new path is out of reach. He can take up at most one existing path and a second. Weighed against battle strength, attainment, and inheritance, only transformation path remains, the path said to project every other path. ^{ch. 1064}

Its long standing flaw does not exist for Fang Yuan. Normally a transformation path Gu Immortal must strip away their dao marks before transforming, but sovereign immortal fetus Gu lets his coexist in harmony. That trait led Qi Zai to suspect him of holding Reckless Savage Demon Venerable’s secret of unrestrained transformation. Fang Yuan is one of two people in history suited to cultivate it. ^{ch. 1064}

Cultivating it would hide his secret completely, letting him use any path’s Immortal Gu after transforming without suspicion, and even gain an amplification effect. His transformation attainment is not high, but he holds Reckless Savage’s true meaning. Lacking an inheritance matters little, since a perfect transformation is itself an easily obtained killer move, and transformation path Immortal Gu are the easiest of all to refine, letting him accumulate them quickly and start over. ^{ch. 1064}

Other considerations weigh in: Lang Ya land spirit prizes the hairy man identity, so mastering it would win Fang Yuan his trust, and transformation would let him deceive future attackers or hide safely if exposed. From now on, he resolves, he is a transformation path Gu Immortal. ^{ch. 1064}
