Chapter 615

A portion of Giant Sun’s furious will floods toward Fang Yuan, but the chaotic lightning balls and restraining smoke weather it down by thirty percent. The outer blizzard grinds off another twenty percent, so more than half its strength is gone by the time it arrives. Fang Yuan estimates it can only last fifteen minutes. He grips the glass owner token and teleports inside Eighty-Eight True Yang Building, so the attack strikes only empty air. ^{ch. 615}

He appears on an ice mountain, the same round Tai Bai Yun Sheng had been taken to, where tens of thousands of three-eyed snow rabbits, each the size of an adult man, surround him. Because he was neither of Giant Sun’s bloodline nor easily controlled as a Gu Immortal, Giant Sun’s will had sealed him here to keep him out of the way while it dealt with the land spirit. With a thought, Fang Yuan dissolves the ice, and Tai Bai Yun Sheng wakes and asks whether Fang Yuan saved him. ^{ch. 615}

Fang Yuan warns him of imminent catastrophe, and Tai Bai Yun Sheng, whom the chapter calls a famed character unafraid of frightening words, asks him to explain. Fang Yuan claims his master ordered him to infiltrate True Yang Building and free the land spirit to seize Imperial Court blessed land, and that Tai Bai Yun Sheng’s sudden ascension let Giant Sun’s will use him to weaken the land spirit instead. He says Giant Sun’s will only used him. He claims that, his value spent, Tai Bai Yun Sheng would have fallen fully into Giant Sun’s will’s control and suffered for it, had Fang Yuan not freed him. ^{ch. 615}

Tai Bai Yun Sheng, shaken, demands to know who Fang Yuan is and says being freed does not mean he trusts him unconditionally. Fang Yuan answers by cutting himself open. With a knife he slices from his forehead down his stomach and across his limbs, feeling the pain but showing no change in expression, then peels his own skin away entirely before healing Gu grows new skin over his body. What stands before Tai Bai Yun Sheng afterward is Fang Yuan’s real face, no longer Chang Shan Yin’s. ^{ch. 615}

Fang Yuan gives his true name and calls himself Tai Bai Yun Sheng’s fellow disciple, sharing the same master. The claim summons Tai Bai Yun Sheng’s most profound memory: an old beggar with disheveled purple-red hair who, once given a bowl of water, offered the young Tai Bai Yun Sheng three Gu Immortal inheritances to choose from, of which he chose the third. He calls that beggar his supreme benefactor. Tai Bai Yun Sheng had searched for him across the whole of northern plains for years with no success. ^{ch. 615}

Fang Yuan names their shared master Purple Mountain True Monarch, claims six great disciples with himself ranked fifth, cultivating strength and enslavement paths. With convincing resentment he adds that he would have chosen the fire path inheritance rather than the time path Tai Bai Yun Sheng picked, a choice Tai Bai Yun Sheng had never told anyone else. Fang Yuan had learned it by soul search. Convinced, Tai Bai Yun Sheng asks if Fang Yuan is his apprentice brother, and Fang Yuan grudgingly ranks him fifth senior brother by the master’s rule that a nominal disciple becomes a legacy disciple only on reaching Gu Immortal. ^{ch. 615}

The chapter states that Fang Yuan’s rude, resentful manner, rather than smooth flattery, is exactly what lowers Tai Bai Yun Sheng’s guard, and that Tai Bai Yun Sheng’s own experience cannot match the five hundred years Fang Yuan lived in his previous life. Tai Bai Yun Sheng asks how he can help recoup his master’s losses. Mo Yao, watching all along, surfaces in Fang Yuan’s mind to praise him for swindling a Gu Immortal to his side with a few words. Fang Yuan tosses him a fifteen-year lifespan Gu. He tells Tai Bai Yun Sheng to use it so that Immortal Gu Man as Before does not drain him to death at a crucial moment. Tai Bai Yun Sheng does not use it, keeping it in his pocket instead, still guilty over Gao Yang and Zhu Zai. Fang Yuan feigns fury, claiming he risked using the glass owner token recklessly just to obtain that lifespan Gu. Tai Bai Yun Sheng’s last suspicion vanishes. Fang Yuan then confirms that, given his tribulation performance, Tai Bai Yun Sheng should now have the Immortal Gu Landscape as Before, and Tai Bai Yun Sheng confirms it.
