Lifespan Gu

Year-count forms differ. One three hundred years lifespan Gu is like a blue snake coiled into a round loop, and one five hundred years lifespan Gu is like a young dragon bearing its claws. ^{ch. 390} Another three hundred years lifespan Gu looks like rough-textured roots coiled into a circle. ^{ch. 402}

Lifespan Gu are hard to find, their locations are fixed, and only heaven and earth create them in limited supply. After surveying other extension methods, Spectral Soul’s critique still treats lifespan Gu as the best choice. Venerables exhaust natural stocks and then invent substitutes. ^{ch. 599}

They are only mortal Gu. Their production conditions vary widely, Gu Immortals often find them only by luck, and mortal Gu Masters often obtain them first. ^{ch. 778} Musing over Giant Sun’s true inheritance, Spectral Soul Demon Venerable reflects that heaven’s will is vicious and governs lifespan Gu’s output, so fewer and fewer are being produced. ^{ch. 1015}

Lifespan Gu is a heaven path Gu worm that people cannot refine. Even in a venerable’s era, natural production of lifespan Gu falls while the venerable lives. ^{ch. 2085} A later chapter restates that lifespan Gu is heaven path, and that a Gu cultivator’s lifespan is heaven path dao marks. ^{ch. 2275}
