After Fang Yuan and Bai Ning Bing kill the demonic Gu Master Chen Cui Hua, Fang Yuan recognizes a silver triangle tattoo on her chest as the mark left by third watch Gu. ch. 211
Form and rank
Chapter 211 does not describe the Gu worm’s resting body shape, size, or color. Fang Yuan names it a rank five expenditure type Gu that is gone after one use, and says that once it is used on a Gu Master it forms a silver triangle tattoo on their chest. ch. 211
Effect
Used on a Gu Master, it makes their time flow three times as fast, so one day for them is three days condensed into one. Cultivation and primeval essence recovery both run at that threefold pace. The matching cost is lifespan: time at three times speed shrinks life in proportion, down to a third of the original span, and injuries or poisons that worsen with time also advance three times as fast. ch. 211
Case of an earlier owner
Chen Cui Hua had already used the Gu. Under its mark she cultivated and recovered primeval essence at three times normal speed, which is why her essence recovery in the fight surprised Fang Yuan and Bai Ning Bing even though she was not a ten extreme physique. She had held her inheritance for less than a year by outside count, but nearly three years by her own time, and green python poison that should have worsened day by day struck her at a three day rate. Bai Ning Bing reads the gift of this Gu as a sign that her inheritance was at least rank five. Fang Yuan treats the Gu as useful to a demonic Gu Master who needs cultivation speed more than long years, and judges Chen Cui Hua against the courage he expects from people who use it, calling her weak and meek. ch. 211

Chapter 211 does not assign third watch Gu a named cultivation path.
Universe path
Later text says the so called universe path is related to time, and that third watch Gu and Spring Autumn Cicada belong to that category, with universe path Gu ranging from rank one to rank five. ch. 355
Second aperture recipe
Fang Yuan’s recipe for the final step of second aperture Gu needs lifespan Gu, divine travel Gu, and two third watch Gu used in a row. Overlaying those two copies makes time flow nine times faster on him, which he treats as a tonic that also raises Spring Autumn Cicada’s pressure on his aperture. ch. 389 On page he activates the first third watch Gu on the refining light ball, then prepares the second; under that effect the ball changes rapidly, and he notes that divine travel Gu broadens space while third watch Gu condenses time. ch. 395

When Fang Yuan again activates two third watch Gu to accelerate a cocoon by nine times, Feng Tian Yu asks whether he used two time path Gu worms to accelerate time. ch. 405
Lifespan cost
Later, weighing how to adapt in northern plains, Fang Yuan names third watch Gu as a common way to accelerate his own time, with lifespan shortened in proportion, and rejects using it on himself because Spring Autumn Cicada would also recover three times as fast. ch. 449 To speed the white-eyes wolf’s growth he uses third watch Gu on it. The wolf’s appetite rises to about thirteen times that of ordinary water wolves, and its lifespan shortens. ch. 453
