Demonic Path

The demonic path is the affiliation of Gu Masters who stand outside clan protection, take by force, and treat defeat as death.

Fang Yuan states that the demonic path does not compromise.^{ch. 2} Gu Yue clansmen call men of the demonic path insane when Flower Wine Monk kills their clan head.^{ch. 15}

How loners turn

Mortals who open an aperture outside full clan acceptance become loner Gu Masters. Cultivation is hard, and as they compete for resources they kill, snatch, and murder, turning toward the demonic path.^{ch. 74} Wang Da names killing for strength as the resolution of his demonic path.^{ch. 75}

Life and death

Fang Yuan frames walking the demonic path as a life and death wager: once he loses, death awaits.^{ch. 80}

Lack of security

Demonic Gu Masters have little sense of security. Most are lone cultivators without support, forced to loot to survive, usually striking other demonic Gu Masters rather than righteous groups, which breeds attack on sight and ruthlessness. Wei Yang converted from demonic to righteous and reads both sides from that lived contrast.^{ch. 280}
