When bandit monkeys block the fogged pass, he shouts that anyone who breaks the rules will answer to Jia clan. Other vice leaders back him by name as Brother Jia Long and go along with him. ch. 239
Monkey toll and Jia Fu’s line
Facing the monkey king, he sends Jia Yong first, then Jia Ping, sneering that the beasts judge by appearances when the thin strength Gu Master wins. After Jia clan’s wagons clear the checkpoint, he cups his hands and moves on ahead of the other clans. ch. 240
Road talk later names him Jia Fu’s subordinate when Chen clan stops giving Jia face, and he argues with Chen Shuang Jin over who should spend fighting force after Jia Ping’s death. ch. 247 After the white feather flying elephant disaster his face is black as charcoal: less than a tenth of the caravan remains, and he orders a timed salvage before the smell draws more beast groups. ch. 248
Rank and the Hei Tu pair
In the remnant caravan only he sits at rank three upper stage among the leaders; the rest are initial or middle stage. He interrupts when Fang Yuan is about to finish Ou Yang Gong, then freezes when Fang Yuan greets him like an old brother, because the two have never spoken. ch. 251 Afterward he invites the pair into a tent. When Fang Yuan asks Shang Xin Ci her opinion before going in, Jia Long raises her standing in his mind, and in private talk with other leaders weighs how to use two vicious rank three peak demonic Gu Masters for the caravan’s benefit. ch. 252 Fang Yuan later treats him as a chess piece: as Jia Fu’s subordinate, the token Fang Yuan once received can buy Jia Long’s trust for several actions. ch. 253
