Shang Chao Feng is Shang Yan Fei's fourth son and a contesting Shang clan young master who manages the Gu fighting arenas of Shang clan city.
He first appears at Shang Yan Fei’s clan banquet in Shang clan city, already seated with Shang Qiu Niu and Shang Pu Lao before the guests arrive. Wei Yang introduces him as the clan leader’s fourth son and the manager of all Gu fighting arenas in the city. The text describes him with messy hair, a high nose bridge, and a wild aura. He toasts Fang Yuan and Bai Ning Bing and invites them to visit his zone for Gu battles. Shang Pu Lao retorts that fourth brother’s Gu battles are too bloody. ch. 269

Third faction alliance
Wei Yang’s earlier city tour separates the Gu fighting zone from the battle zone: in the Gu fighting zone Gu Masters cannot interfere and can only control their Gu, while the battle zone holds over eighty battle stages for Gu Masters themselves. ch. 265 Chao Feng manages the Gu fighting arenas; Shang Chi Wen separately holds control over the battle arenas. At the banquet Fang Yuan already knows him from prior life memory as aggressive about winning, ruthless, and cunning, and as once the biggest hindrance to Shang Xin Ci’s young master seat. ch. 269 Later city talk still greets him as young master Chao Feng. Fang Yuan’s count of the ten contesting young masters places him with Shang Fu Xi as the third faction: Chao Feng controls the Gu battle zone, Fu Xi the auction zone, and together they hide their strength while waiting for a chance to rise. The Pu Lao bloc is then temporarily suppressing them. ch. 305 Fang Yuan later restates the same ranking to Shang Xin Ci, calling the Chao Feng and Fu Xi alliance the third faction that is biding its time. ch. 326 Chao Feng himself later tells Xin Ci he is in charge of the Gu battle zone while her thirteenth brother runs the auction sites. ch. 327
Banquets and Xin Ci’s third faction
He personally invites battle stage fighters such as Fang Zheng and is refused. ch. 305 A servant later delivers his invitation to Ju Kai Bei as well. ch. 306 During the Auspicious Festival stretch Shang Xin Ci accepts his festival banquet over Qiu Niu or Pu Lao, which the text treats as her choice of Shang Chao Feng’s faction while those two are locked fighting each other. ch. 326 Chao Feng is surprised she joins the third side, but accepts her because Fang and Bai would come with the alliance, and he says he will whole-heartedly support her young master bid. ch. 327
In his study he first warns her off battle-stage information business, explaining that Shang clan city’s battle stage alone lets demonic Gu Masters become Shang external elders, that three of five great elders are external, and that an earlier young master who opened a battle-stage betting house was demoted and exiled. After Xin Ci argues that open ranking and strength summaries help both fighters and clan oversight, he flips, praises her, and offers his own people as staff. She refuses the staff while he still tries to place subordinates in the business and doubts her plan to recruit Zhou Quan. ch. 327 When Fang Yuan rejects that staffing push, Chao Feng backs off forcing the match, still planning to “help” after their force fails, and personally escorts them out. ch. 328 Zhou Quan later counts Fang Zheng’s good relationship with Shang Xin Ci and Shang Chao Feng among the reasons he cannot compete. ch. 332
Prior life rivalry
In Fang Yuan’s previous life, Chao Feng almost took the Shang clan leader seat and was Shang Xin Ci’s greatest competitor, wicked and devious with decisive courage somewhat like Shang Yan Fei. ch. 305 The same prior life memory has Chao Feng and Shang Xin Ci fighting for the clan leader position, so their early alliance in this life reads as irony to Fang Yuan. ch. 326
Death report
Much later, during a Shang Bi Xi attack on Shang Xin Ci, Bi Xi claims father, elder brother, and Chao Feng have already died, and that killing Xin Ci would put eighth brother on the clan leader seat. That death is Bi Xi’s claim in that scene; the chapter does not show Chao Feng’s body or otherwise confirm the report on its own. ch. 1059
Chao Feng drawing
After Shang Yan Fei distributes the nine children dragon drawings among his children, Shang Xin Ci observes that the Chao Feng drawing shows a divine beast with a noble aura that could not be sullied. The observation names the drawing, not Shang Chao Feng in person. ch. 2122 This page therefore leaves his fate unsettled rather than treating Bi Xi’s claim or the drawing name as a settled death or revival. ch. 1059 ch. 2122
