Shang Fu Xi

He first appears at Shang Yan Fei’s clan banquet in Shang clan city, arriving with other young masters as the evening banquet nears. Wei Yang introduces that group to Fang Yuan and Bai Ning Bing; the text names Shang Fu Xi as the one who manages auctions. ^{ch. 269} The same night he reacts quickly when Fang Yuan refuses Shang Yan Fei’s reward, squinting and praising the ingenuity of the answer. ^{ch. 270} Later city talk greets him with Shang Chao Feng as young master Fu Xi, and the text describes him as refined and delicate, looking like a scholar. ^{ch. 305}

Thirteenth son and third faction

Fang Yuan’s count of the ten contesting young masters places him with Shang Chao Feng as the third faction: Chao Feng controls the Gu battle zone, Fu Xi the auction zone, and together they hide their strength while waiting for a chance to rise. Narration calls him Chao Feng’s greatest supporter, willingly going under him, with wits and a gift for planning. The Pu Lao bloc of Shang Pu Lao, Shang Suan Ni, and Shang Bi Xi is then temporarily suppressing them. ^{ch. 305} Fang Yuan later restates the same ranking to Shang Xin Ci, calling the Chao Feng and Fu Xi alliance the third faction that is biding its time. ^{ch. 326} Chao Feng himself tells Xin Ci he runs the Gu battle zone while her thirteenth brother runs the auction sites. ^{ch. 327}

Auction zone and banquets

Wei Yang’s city tour describes the auction zone before Fu Xi is named its manager: a small scale auction runs every day, a mid scale auction every two weeks, and a large scale auction at the end of every month, with most lots rare and coveted. ^{ch. 265 ch. 269} He arrives at the auction house with Shang Chao Feng during the stretch when several young masters gather there, and servants clear a path while the crowd notes their close relationship since youth. ^{ch. 305} When Shang Xin Ci accepts Chao Feng’s Auspicious Festival banquet, Shang Yi Fan reads that choice as joining the third faction and still judges Chao Feng and Fu Xi pressured from the start against eldest brother Qiu Niu. ^{ch. 327}
