Chapter 966

Heaven Overseeing Tower Lord, Bi Chen Tian and Lian Jiu Sheng had trapped immortal zombies Bo Qing and Yu Mu Chun inside an Immortal Gu House, Illusion Garden. Bo Qing’s incredible sword path proves too strong for the three. They call five more Gu Immortals from Heavenly Court’s rest. After more than a month the eight kill Yu Mu Chun and completely burn away Mo Yao’s remnant soul, the one huge weakness that had driven Bo Qing’s corpse all along, and it goes still for good. The five awoken immortals carry the body back to Heavenly Court and return to their rest. ^{ch. 966}

Very restless despite the win, Heaven Overseeing Tower Lord heads back and resumes an unfinished deduction inside Heaven Overseeing Tower. It now costs him double the immortal essence per step. He suspects Bo Qing’s death was only a prelude to a stronger mastermind, that someone is secretly hindering his deduction, and keeps climbing anyway. Past his hundredth step the wall turns black, and a month later he reaches the top floor extremely exhausted, having spent most of his lifetime’s immortal essence. The final wall stays black too, save for a pair of human eyes glowing inside it, cold and murderous. ^{ch. 966}

He barely steadies himself and calls it a huge crisis: left unchecked it would destroy Heavenly Court, and Bo Qing was never more than a distraction. He must awaken many more Gu Immortals for a battle deciding their survival. He runs to Floating Maple Cliff and sets off the giant Gu formation, and a bell tone, vast and unparalleled, rolls out as Heavenly Court shakes. ^{ch. 966}

In Southern Border, Fang Yuan wears a different face, having gained part of Old Immortal Kong Jue’s inheritance from Blazing Heaven Demoness. He steps onto Yi Tian Mountain with his own immortal aperture sealed, turning himself back into a rank three Gu Master. Yi Tian Mountain has changed hugely. Gu Masters have poured in on both sides, and the righteous path has already pushed a third and fourth wave, both sides suffering heavy losses. ^{ch. 966}

Second Zombie King’s disciples form a zombie army giving the righteous path a huge headache. Wei Yang and Hong Fei Yu ally and gain the edge over Lan Mei He and Fei You Wang in the aerial battles. Divine Doctor Sheng Shou backs the righteous path, cutting its losses and healing most injuries quickly. Xiao Shan opens the fifth wave attacking openly while Lu Zuan Feng sneaks to the rear to kill Sheng Shou. It fails. Shang Fu Xi of the righteous path ambushes and kills Second Zombie King instead. ^{ch. 966}

Killer Ghost Doctor Chou Jiu arrives, suppresses Sheng Shou and rises to third in the village’s ranking. Mo Wu Tian, a demonic rising star, costs the righteous path many warriors in single combat. Shang clan sends Doctor Su Shou to help Sheng Shou close the gap. ^{ch. 966}

Yan Jun, Yan clan’s young leader and a phantom path inheritor, sneaks in, kills Chou Jiu and leaves openly. It is a trap. Chou Jiu’s remnant life Gu lets him revive whole, and he secretly returns to lure the righteous path in. Mo Wu Tian kills three rank four Gu Masters in the sixth battle and even beats Yan Jun into heavy injuries. The righteous path retreats, and both sides pause to rebuild after huge losses. ^{ch. 966}

During that pause, Fang Yuan joins Yi Tian Village disguised as a rank three Gu Master, ranked outside the top hundred and set to guard an archery tower. He keeps an extremely low profile, and after three days with no Gu Immortal stopping him he begins quietly refining the Immortal Gu House’s battle will. His wisdom path grandmaster attainment lets him refine it directly, without pawns. Six hundred demonic Gu Masters have joined the village. ^{ch. 966}

The seventh wave ends in another draw. The demonic path tries to cut supply lines, but Shang clan leader Shang Yan Fei feeds the army with gourmet food box Gu and undoes the scheme. The clan leaders of Yi, Luo, Yao and Xia clans then join the fighting themselves. ^{ch. 966}

The fighting looks extremely brilliant, but Southern Border’s Gu Immortals are the ones steering it. Fang Yuan pulls in huge amounts of information from the immortals’ covert scheming, and refines large amounts of battle will, though Graceful Chaotic Duel Stage still feels bottomless. A month on, Old Man Yan Shi arrives quietly near Yi Tian Mountain with more than ten Gu Immortals, warning them that Heavenly Court is readying an expedition against Southern Border and they must act early.
