Mu Bei Mountain

Several days after the caravan enters Xiang Ya mountain, a caravan member says that after Xiang Ya mountain the group has to get by Mu Bei mountain and Shuang Jiang mountain before it reaches Zhao clan village. ^{ch. 247}

A huge tombstone stands in the ruins of the clan that once lived there, carved with the demonic Gu Master’s wife’s name. From the caravan camp at the base, the mountain reads as dark. ^{ch. 253}

Several days after leaving Xiang Ya mountain region, the caravan begins its journey to Mu Bei mountain, then later enters Mu Bei mountain region as zombies appear. The caravan camps at the base for the night, and Fang Yuan looks at the dark Mo Bei mountain with a thoughtful look. ^{ch. 253}

The mountain had not always had the same name. Over a hundred years ago a large clan lived there until a demonic Gu Master, once a servant of that clan, saw his wife seized and humiliated to death on his wedding day, later obtained Zombie King inheritance, reached rank five after nearly a hundred years, slaughtered the clan into zombies, and erected a huge tombstone carved with his wife’s name. That event shook the whole Southern Border, and the mountain has been called Mu Bei mountain ever since. ^{ch. 253}

Zombies roam free, kill wild beasts or passersby for blood, and ptomaine on them infects corpses to produce new zombies, so their numbers stay endless. Clans organize zombie hunting squadrons every year to protect the trade route, but cannot kill all the zombies or overturn Mu Bei mountain; after failed large scale expeditions, enthusiasm fades. ^{ch. 253}

Narration says Mu Bei mountain sits by one of the three most important trade routes of Southern Border, with caravans passing every month. ^{ch. 254}
