Bai Feng

In the street he shouts that Fang Yuan slaughtered Bai clan’s two young clan leaders and will not escape justice. He vows that while he is present Fang Yuan will never dominate the battle stage. Fang Yuan does not recognize him among the group. Bai Feng, Tie Dao Ku, Bai Zhan Lie, and Bai Lian are all rank three. When Fang Yuan hints the young clan leaders may live, Bai Feng coaxingly agrees to a private meal. After Fang Yuan says they are dead and that Bai clan’s spirit spring is drying up, Bai Feng blurts confirmation of a secret confined to the clan leader and a few elders. The text notes he was impatient and poor at secrets even as a youth, when his father drove him out of the clan to mold his character. ^{ch. 294}

Under Fang Yuan’s threat to sell that secret, Bai Feng blocks him from leaving and bargains the silence fee down from three million, agreeing to pay five hundred thousand within a day and to clear Bai clan people from the city. ^{ch. 295}

He plans to borrow three hundred thousand as a Bai clan elder and pawn his core Gu small tornado for the rest, then takes responsibility for the disgrace so juniors such as Bai Lian and Bai Zhan Lie keep political cover. He tells Tie Dao Ku that Bai clan is withdrawing and cannot go against Fang and Bai anymore, citing how little the clan can risk. ^{ch. 296}
