Bai Zhan Lie is Bai clan's number one youth expert during the Bai Gu Mountain hunting stretch, a muscular rank three Gu Master with strong battle intent.

At a Bai clan banquet he greets the two Gu Yue guests and steals the introduction before Bai Mo Xing can finish. He pauses on Fang Yuan with a smile of disdain, then locks his gaze on Bai Ning Bing. He sneers that Gu Yue has strong women and weak men, and the Bai clan leader cuts in to cover for him. ch. 217

Hunting duel and Bai Lian

At dawn he quarrels with Bai Lian outside Fang Yuan’s tent, pulls her hand, and demands she stop seeing the Gu Yue guest. He then challenges Fang Yuan to a contest whose loser must leave Bai Lian alone, calling him a stray dog and laughing that the world has only strong and weak. Bai Mo Xing rebukes the rudeness. Bai Lian answers in Fang Yuan’s place, then steers the fight into a five person hunting contest with proportionate cultivation, which Bai Mo Xing accepts while Bai Zhan Lie snorts in annoyance. ch. 218

Camp talk after the first duel day treats him as interested in Bai Lian and as her childhood friend, while also blaming Fang Yuan’s glances for his fury. Their private hunting contest pulls both of them out of the ordinary ranking hunt. On the third duel day he catches a wild swimming dragon butterfly, a precious rank three Gu, and his score jumps far ahead until Bai Lian pushes a riskier Bai Gu Mountain plan. ch. 219

Grandfather’s sacrifice

When Fang Yuan and Bai Ning Bing escape on a footless bird, elder Bai Zhan Wen chooses Human Torch Gu, a rank four suicidal burn that turns the body into fire. Bai Zhan Lie cries Grandpa as the elder asks the clan to look after his grandson, then the human torch flies after the bird and fails to catch them. From the cliff Bai Zhan Lie shouts that he wants Fang Zheng to die, and the text says the seed of hatred sinks deep in his heart. ch. 227

Shang Clan City pursuit

In Shang Clan City he still wants the pair alive so he can kill them himself, naming that his grandfather was killed by Fang and Bai. ch. 293 Fang Yuan recalls him as the number one genius of Bai clan’s younger generation and as someone they once drank with, and counts him among rank three Gu Masters beside Bai Feng, Tie Dao Ku, and Bai Lian. ch. 294 After Fang Yuan slaps him during the confrontation, he holds a swollen face with bloodshot eyes and tries to keep the last of his reason. ch. 295 Later debt talk still places him among the juniors whose political prospects Bai Feng shields. ch. 296
