Human Torch Gu

At a cliff on Bai Gu mountain, Bai clan elder Bai Zhan Wen chooses this Gu so Fang Yuan and Bai Ning Bing cannot escape on a footless bird. He asks the clan to look after his grandson Bai Zhan Lie, then his flesh, skin, and bones turn into fire and his voice disappears with them. ^{ch. 227}

Effect

It is a suicidal technique. Bai Zhan Wen chooses to sacrifice his life to gain that immense power. ^{ch. 227}

After the change he becomes a human shaped fire. His pupils transform into a dark purple color. Fire burns around him and raises the surrounding temperature. He can no longer hear the clan leader’s words. He feels unprecedented power, completely free and unbound, and flies by the propulsion of the flames, with no wings to help him change direction quickly. ^{ch. 227}

Bai Gu mountain chase

The human torch flies after the footless bird. Fang Yuan’s maneuvering makes the torch pounce on empty air, then crash into mountain rocks when the bird reverses. Over six kilometre square of land burst into flames. In that sea of fire a lump of fire gathers into a human shape again and keeps chasing. ^{ch. 227}

When Bai Zhan Wen cannot catch them, he chooses to self-detonate. The explosion and flames engulf the footless bird. The bird is white bone, so the fire does little, but the impact cracks its body and it plummets before Fang Yuan steadies it. Fang Yuan himself is burning when the bird leaves the flame. He pours milk spring from tusita flower over his head to put the fire out. ^{ch. 227}
