Bai Gu Mountain

From a slope the mountain shows as a white peak. It stands alone above flat ground rather than among the hill ring around Qing Mao Mountain, and the surrounding color is bone-white rather than snow-white. Every rock on it is bone. People call that material bone rock. Special vegetation, large numbers of bone beasts, and many bone-type wild Gu live there. ^{ch. 214} There is no soil, only bones and stones. ^{ch. 218} Bone trees grow sparse on that white rock, short of the leafy canopy of ordinary forest. ^{ch. 228} The spiral bone cave is white throughout, with sharp bone spikes on the walls whose tips are spiral, and it is the only cave on the mountain packed with those spiral spikes. ^{ch. 221} Under an eerie blue sky the mountain can read as snow-like white in sunlight. ^{ch. 227}

When the mountain comes into view, every rock on it is bone. People call that material bone rock. The peak stands alone above flat ground rather than among the hill ring that surrounds Qing Mao Mountain, and the surrounding color is bone-white rather than snow-white. It is not a dead waste: special vegetation, large numbers of bone beasts, and many bone-type wild Gu live on it. At the time Fang Yuan arrives, no one lives there. It is a wild mountain of beasts, Gu, and fatal plants. ^{ch. 214} Bai Lian later repeats the same ground fact to Fang Yuan: there is no soil, only bones and stones, and many tough bone Gu make settlement costly. ^{ch. 218} Bone trees grow sparse on that white rock, short of the leafy canopy found in ordinary forest. ^{ch. 228}

Bai Lian treats a push into the mountain to kill bone beasts or capture wild bone Gu as the high-risk path when a forest hunt falls behind. ^{ch. 219} During the later flight from a cliff, grey back ostriches dig into the bone rock in panic, bone beast groups bolt under the descending footless bird, and fire across the slope kills bone beasts and bone trees together. ^{ch. 227}

Bai clan is already on the mountain’s doorstep when Fang Yuan arrives. On the surface the clan is out hunting to temper its young masters; the true work is finding a spirit spring on Bai Gu mountain and clearing the beasts around it. ^{ch. 215} Their own spring is running dry, so they need a new one, and the hunt is cover for that search. ^{ch. 216} Fang Yuan can speak of Bai clan as half the owner of the mountain while Bai Lian still describes it as a hard place to settle. ^{ch. 218}

Before the cave is entered, the text already places the righteous inheritance in the mountain’s back area. ^{ch. 214}

Bai clan’s climb costs life and blood: over six hours the clan sacrifices tens of outstanding Gu Masters, and even three elders are injured, so Fang Yuan’s party can ascend easily under that cover, then Bai Lian guides them into the back mountain. ^{ch. 219} The entrance is the spiral bone cave, the only cave on the mountain packed with spiral-tipped bone spikes, and that cave opens into Grey Bone Scholar’s inheritance. The whole mountain is bone with no ordinary rock or soil, and the cave is the same white throughout. ^{ch. 221} Fang Yuan and Bai Ning Bing take the spiral bone cave for themselves. Pulling the shortest spiral bone spike clears the bone-spear tunnel and the entrance seals itself; they then walk the inheritance. ^{ch. 221}

Inside, the founder leaves two names: Grey Bone Scholar and Flesh Bone Master. ^{ch. 224} Milk spring appears in the halls as a vat of white spring water that feeds bone spear Gu, and Fang Yuan’s earlier-life memory states that Bai clan later unearthed five such springs as trade goods after relocating here. Bone spear Gu and spiral bone spear Gu fill the milk-spring vat as foundational attack Gu of the place. One hall shows ribcage shield Gu, flying bone shield Gu, and arm bone wings Gu on white bone pillars. ^{ch. 222} The halls and branch paths form a complete inheritance planned over a long time, stronger in practical yield for Fang Yuan than the hastily finished Flower Wine Monk inheritance even though Grey Bone Scholar was only rank four. Later gains from the main path include iron bone Gu, jade bone Gu, and the healing meat bone Gu among other bone Gu. ^{ch. 228 ch. 233}

They refine bone flesh unity Gu there, the cultivation Gu Fang Yuan ranks as the mountain’s decisive prize. ^{ch. 226 ch. 231} Bai Sheng and Bai Hua, the fated twin inheritors in Fang Yuan’s earlier-life memory, die in that refinement attempt. ^{ch. 226} Fang Yuan and Bai Ning Bing then flee through a tunnel that opens onto a cliff of Bai Gu mountain, pursued by Bai clan, and leave the white peak behind on a footless bird of white bone. ^{ch. 227}

They land far from Bai clan near Zi You mountain after flying north off Bai Gu mountain. ^{ch. 228} From there Shang Clan City becomes the next practical stage: a place to buy complementary Gu, lay low, and sell stores of bone spear Gu taken from the mountain. ^{ch. 230} At Tong Ou shop his sale of remaining bone spear Gu aborts and he keeps the Gu. ^{ch. 262} Shang Ya Zi later completes that bone spear Gu sale. ^{ch. 268} Bai clan’s pursuit and losses on Bai Gu mountain follow them into Shang Clan City: the clan issues an arrest warrant after the two young masters die and half the inheritance is taken. ^{ch. 270} Later, Bai clan leaves the city while still using Bai Gu inheritance exploration as cover for a faster spirit-spring search on the mountain. ^{ch. 296} Looking back from later chapters, the novel groups bone flesh unity Gu with Qing Mao and Shang gains as a landmark acquisition from this mountain. ^{ch. 695}
