Behind an unlocked door carved with the chamber’s four words is a small grotesque room whose walls are all flesh. Walking in feels like entering a monster’s stomach. The flesh walls are warm and throb rhythmically as if they had a heart, then crack open into countless large mouths that show even white teeth and laugh. ch. 223
Door, flesh walls, and stored Gu
Deep in the Bai Gu Mountain inheritance, Fang Yuan and Bai Ning Bing reach a tightly closed door with four words carved on it: Flesh Sac Secret Chamber. The door is unlocked. Behind it is a small grotesque room whose walls are all flesh, warm and throbbing as if they had a heart, opening cracks that show white teeth and mouths that laugh. ch. 223
Fang Yuan names the effect as flesh laughter Gu, used to store Gu worms like an Earth Treasury flower. A pocket-sized bone book from one mouth says the chamber holds many Gu, and that a fated successor may knock the teeth; luck deciding whether a hibernating Gu comes out. The same book names the founder’s two identities, Grey Bone Scholar and Flesh Bone Master. Bai Ning Bing’s first successful knock yields Flesh White Bones Gu, which Fang Yuan identifies as the famous rank three healing Gu Flesh-bone Gu. ch. 224
Gu from the mouths
Fang Yuan wakes Bai Hua and Bai Sheng and sets them to knocking the teeth. Each mouth has ten pairs of teeth, and at least five must be knocked in the correct order before the teeth fall. Bai Hua’s first success yields a black-and-white striped bone ball that Fang Yuan takes as the movement Gu Footless Bird. Bai Sheng next opens a mouth that presents Jade Bone Gu, which Fang Yuan refines into his aperture on the spot. Bai Hua later knocks open another mouth and provides Fang Yuan with Iron Bone Gu. One mouth Bai Sheng opens widens into a new secret tunnel instead of presenting a Gu. Fang Yuan leaves the remaining Gu still locked in firmly shut mouths, hard to destroy, and takes the twins into that tunnel. ch. 225
Bai clan arrival
Bai clan later follows a smashed-skeleton path to a hall with two secret tunnels; the stair to Flesh Sac Secret Chamber draws the clan leader, Tie Dao Ku, and most of the elders. They smash the door and enter an empty chamber still full of laughing mouths. An unnamed speaker in the party calls the storage method laughter meat Gu and treats the open mouths like drawers, then the clan leader leaves some men behind while the rest follow the only secret tunnel onward. ch. 225
Leftover locks
After fleeing, Fang Yuan notes he only walked the main path of the Bai Gu inheritance, and that many steel teeth locks in the Flesh Sac Secret Chamber were never knocked open, so those remains would serve Bai clan. ch. 228
Refinement recipe
In Shang clan city he refuses a cheap sale of the complete refinement recipe taken from the flesh sac secret room, calling that recipe the only one in the world. ch. 262
