Bone Spike Gu

At the end of the third white bone hall on Bai Gu mountain, Bai Ning Bing asks what Grey Bone Scholar’s lifebound Gu is before they smash the skull. Fang Yuan then smashes the corpse and takes a rank three Bone Spike Gu from the skull after the inheritance opens its preferred tunnel. ^{ch. 222} Bai clan pursuers later find a bone spike Gu in the smashed skull as well. ^{ch. 223}

Appearance

It is about fist sized and like a ball cactus, with thorns like bone spikes all over its surface. It is somewhat heavy. ^{ch. 223}

Form and rank

The find is a rank three Bone Spike Gu. ^{ch. 222} Fang Yuan then holds a fist-sized Gu like a ball cactus, heavy, with thorns like bone spikes all over its surface. ^{ch. 223}

Effect

It is a typical Gu that damages both enemy and user: if the enemy takes a thousand damage, the user takes about eight hundred. When activated, the Gu Master’s skeleton changes and sharp, hard bone spikes protrude. Those spikes pierce the user’s own flesh and skin before they can confront the enemy. Pain is secondary to the need for a matching healing Gu; without one, the user can be seriously injured even if the enemy does not die. ^{ch. 223}

Bai Ning Bing loses interest once she hears that cost, because using bone spikes Gu would first remove her ice muscle, a loss rather than a gain for her. Fang Yuan is also not too interested, but still refines the rank three Gu into his aperture for the moment. ^{ch. 223} No cited passage shows Bone Spike Gu used to finish a fight.

Sale in Shang clan city

In Shang clan city, Fang Yuan prices the bone spike Gu at seven thousand primeval stones at Tong Ou shop. The shop elderly refuses to test it, notes the mutual injury and the need for a healing Gu, and bargains to six thousand seven hundred before saying deal. Together with the bone spear Gu and spiral bone spear Gu priced in that visit, Fang Yuan totals forty thousand six hundred and twenty primeval stones. ^{ch. 262}

That Tong Ou package does not leave his hands there. When the elderly presses for the white bone recipe at a low price and then threatens that other shops will not buy either, Fang Yuan keeps the Gu worms and leaves. Other shops then refuse the sale and send him back toward Tong Ou. ^{ch. 262}

Shang Ya Zi later buys the Gu package that includes bone spike Gu with the bone spear line. Fang Yuan sells him the bone spear Gu, spiral bone spear Gu, and bone spike Gu under their original agreement for that same forty thousand six hundred and twenty primeval stones total. ^{ch. 268}
