Chapter 215

Bai Mo Xing, sixty eight years old and an uncle to the Bai clan leader, is leading a scouting party away from the clan when he senses the two strangers’ auras and moves to investigate, unsure whether they are demonic Gu masters. He and his three companions find Fang Yuan and Bai Ning Bing instead. ^{ch. 215}

Bai Ning Bing’s rank three aura and striking looks draw every eye, while Fang Yuan, at rank one, draws almost none, which suits him. Bai Mo Xing notices that she is guarding Fang Yuan, and reads him as the pair’s real leader. Fang Yuan steps forward and introduces himself as Gu Yue Fang Zheng, young master of the Gu Yue clan of Qing Mao mountain, a false name that hides his own. ^{ch. 215}

Bai Mo Xing knows Qing Mao mountain was destroyed and calls out the lie, but Fang Yuan answers that its destruction is exactly why he ended up here. Before Bai Mo Xing can stop him, a younger clansman blurts out that Bai Mo Xing is the Bai clan’s number one elder, on a secret mission whose true purpose is hidden even from most of the group. ^{ch. 215}

Bai Mo Xing weighs the risk of killing two possible young masters against the risk of provoking clans he does not know, and decides caution is safer. He invites Fang Yuan and Bai Ning Bing to the Bai clan’s main camp as guests of the annual hunting event, and after a show of hesitation, Fang Yuan accepts. ^{ch. 215}

At the banquet, the Bai clan leader, a middle aged woman, hosts them under an open tent roof with grilled lamb. Fang Yuan eats, then suddenly begins to cry. Asked why, he says the meal’s richness makes him think of the danger he and Bai Ning Bing barely survived these past days, and of the clansmen he imagines suffering in the wild without food. ^{ch. 215}
