Wild Gu

Wild Gu can use natural essence straight from the air, while Gu Masters can only use primeval essence from their own apertures. ^{ch. 164} After a Gu Master dies, the Gu worms left behind still hold that person’s will. They cannot be considered wild Gu worms, and they have lost the ability to use natural essence in the air. ^{ch. 165}

Wild Gu worms possess their own will and can absorb natural primeval essence in the air by themselves. Once a Gu worm is refined by a Gu Master, its willpower is dominated by that Gu Master, and it loses the ability to absorb surrounding primeval essence. It can only absorb primeval essence from the Gu Master’s aperture. ^{ch. 183}
