Lava crocodiles live underground in groups, and a thousand beast king of their kind, dark red scaled, the size of three elephants and bearing two volcano-like lumps on its back, spits lava fireballs.
A lava crocodile sleeps peacefully in a mountain valley, the size of three elephants placed together, its body covered in dark red scales and held up on four thick legs. Its tail glows with a metallic lustre and is almost ten metres long, and two lumps on its back, like two mini volcanoes, send up columns of black smoke that vary in intensity as it breathes. Bai Ning Bing names it a thousand beast king. A thousand beast king carries rank three wild Gu worms, and with the body of such a beast even rank three peak stage Gu Masters would struggle to win one against one. Lava crocodiles live underground in groups, and only the beast king has the strength to reach the surface, breathe fresh air, and enjoy the sun. When Bai Ning Bing comes within about fifty steps the sleeping king opens its red golden eyes. A rank three blood moonblade shaves some scales off its back and angers it, and it answers with a dark red lava fireball the size of a stonemill that leaves a huge crater of flowing lava where it lands. It does not give chase, since it takes the probing attack for the work of an intruding wild beast. Fang Yuan concludes that it holds three rank three Gu worms, lava explosion Gu, flame stomach Gu, and accumulating ash Gu, covering attack, defense, and healing. It normally lives below ground, can burrow back to its nest, and is unknown to other beast kings; Fang Yuan plans to lure one into fighting it, but five days of scouting turn up no suitable target. At the lava crocodile king’s furious growls a pheasant as large as a mountain shows itself in the valley in rainbow light, and Fang Yuan names it the Xuan Yuan Divine Pheasant, a myriad beast king level bird, and says the lava crocodile king is done for. ch. 207
Killed by the pheasant
An hour later the lava crocodile king cries out one last time and falls silent. The valley is half destroyed, and the king lies belly up with its stomach pried open and its flesh and intestines eaten, leaving a skeleton held together by dark red crocodile skin. A red glass fragment shows that its flame stomach Gu, activated for defense, was destroyed by the divine pheasant, and the lava explosion Gu and accumulating ash Gu are nowhere to be found. The pheasant leaves some scraps of the corpse, and Fang Yuan and Bai Ning Bing cut the meat out and store it in the tusita flower, judging it enough to feed the crocodile strength Gu for three months. ch. 208

Rock shrapnel falls and lava crocodiles crawl out of the ground, and Bai Ning Bing recognizes a lava crocodile group led by a thousand beast king. Its king is the size of three elephants, with deep red scales, a tail over ten metres long, and two lumps on its back like small volcanoes giving off black smoke. Huo Tan mountain in the southern border is a dormant volcano. The king senses that Fang Yuan’s aura is the scarier of the two and fixes most of its attention on him, and over a thousand lava crocodiles encircle the pair. Fang Yuan and Bai Ning Bing had met a lava crocodile king when they first left Qing Mao mountain and stayed away from it, and as rank four Gu Masters they now mean to kill this one. Two demonic assassins, Jiao Huang and Meng Tu, watch from hiding for a Shang clan reward, and Meng Tu declares that the pair have fallen for their trap just before the crocodiles emerge. ch. 335 The king ends on the ground with all its bones broken, its two mini volcanoes smashed apart, and it dies after failing to drill underground. With its death the remaining lava crocodiles scatter, drilling into the ground or fleeing in disarray. Fang Yuan thinks the timing and the area of the group’s appearance too coincidental, and with his previous life’s experience he smells a conspiracy. ch. 336 The lava crocodile group had been attracted by Jiao Huang and Meng Tu, assassins working for Shang clan, and it posed no problems to Fang Yuan and Bai Ning Bing. ch. 354

E Xuan Ming, who thinks of the enemy as the famous Wolf King, sends large numbers of six legs crocodiles, lava crocodiles, rock crocodiles, and shadow plunder crocodiles to the front line under his control. Mud crabs, qi crabs, steel pincers crabs, crystal drilling crabs, and these four kinds of crocodile, lava crocodiles among them, form a large mixed army that defeats the wolves in its way and charges toward Hei tribe’s main tent. ch. 511
