Crocodile Strength Gu

Fang Yuan pulls Crocodile Strength Gu from a hundred beast king crocodile corpse after Bai Ning Bing kills the Grand Crocodile king. The same corpse also yields Carapace Gu. He refines both at once. The translation sometimes spells the loot name “Crcocodile Strength Gu.” ^{ch. 204}

Appearance

It is smaller than a finger. It looks like a mini crocodile, with a head, body, and tail, but no legs. ^{ch. 204}

Form and rank

Both Carapace Gu and Crocodile Strength Gu are rank two Gu worms, the tier the text assigns to Gu living in hundred beast kings. ^{ch. 204}

Crocodile Strength Gu is smaller than a finger. It looks like a mini crocodile with head, body, and tail, but no legs. When refined it becomes a dim yellow light and enters the aperture. ^{ch. 204}

Effect

It raises a Gu Master’s strength permanently by up to the strength of a crocodile. The permanent boost belongs in the same class as Black Boar Gu and White Boar Gu. ^{ch. 204 ch. 233} It is a precious Gu not normally available on the market. ^{ch. 204}

Below rank six a Gu Master still has a mortal body with a hard limit on how much strength it can hold. Fang Yuan already holds the strength of two boars from black and white boar Gu, so using Crocodile Strength Gu on top of that would harm him unless other Gu reinforce the body first. ^{ch. 205 ch. 233} He plans around Jade Bone Gu from the Bai Gu mountain inheritance, then actually stacks crocodile strength after Iron Bone Gu hardens his skeleton. ^{ch. 205 ch. 214 ch. 233}

Crocodile strength belongs among the other strength type Gu, with biting as its field of expertise, distinct from bear smacking, horse galloping, and similar specialties. ^{ch. 241} Later combat shows a crocodile strength phantom breaking a water prison where boar and bear phantoms fail, and the text ties that to the crocodile’s water aptitude. ^{ch. 288}

Feeding

Its food is crocodile flesh. Fang Yuan stores crocodile flesh and blood from the beach battle in a tusita flower for that feeding, among other uses. ^{ch. 205} Crocodile strength Gu needs crocodile meat, and by the time they track the lava crocodile king, their stock is already low. ^{ch. 207} Scraps from a lava crocodile king later refill that stock enough to feed the Gu for three months. ^{ch. 208} Large amounts of Bai clan crocodile meat keep the Gu alive long enough for Fang Yuan’s later use. ^{ch. 233}

Bai Ning Bing’s use

Fang Yuan gives her the Gu right after the beach fight. He tells her repeated activation for about a month should grant the strength of a crocodile. She begins using it that night. ^{ch. 205} Midway through the journey her strength has risen but is still short of one full crocodile. ^{ch. 207} By the monkey-wine pit work she has fully cultivated the strength of one crocodile, and farm work later still treats her as carrying that crocodile strength while Fang Yuan carries two boars. ^{ch. 213 ch. 225 ch. 231}

Fang Yuan’s later use

After Iron Bone Gu, he begins using Crocodile Strength Gu to add crocodile strength on top of his two boars. ^{ch. 233} He activates it after snow silver primeval essence sessions, with new strength rooted permanently into a body now supported by iron-like bones. ^{ch. 239} By the time the caravan reaches Huang Jin mountain he has finished with the Gu, and his strength has permanently risen by one crocodile’s strength. ^{ch. 241}

Path

Crocodile strength is a strength type Gu among bear, horse, rabbit, fish, and tortoise strength. That stretch does not yet assign Crocodile Strength Gu to a named cultivation path. ^{ch. 241}
