Beast Phantom

On the Shang clan city battle stage, a phantom image of a black bear appears behind Tang Xiong and roars. He unleashes a Beast Phantom, and the smack then carries a bear’s strength. Spectators in that fight say bear strength specializes in smacking, and that it is normal for the bear strength phantom to appear since Tang Xiong has already attacked so many times. In that fight Fang Yuan has the strength of two boars and a crocodile and has yet to acquire bear strength. In that same clash he cannot bring out a beast phantom by using fists or palms, and canopy Gu is a poor defense against those close smacks. ^{ch. 281}

All-out Effort Gu is a near extinct ancient Gu that can summon the beast phantom a hundred percent of the time. ^{ch. 285}

Once used, the phantom moves according to the Gu Master’s will. ^{ch. 286}

Ordinary punches and kicks still struggle to bring out a beast strength phantom. With All-out Effort Gu, a brown bear image appears behind Fang Yuan, raises its right palm and smacks as he does, and breaks a stone pillar in one blow where dozens of unaided hits had been needed. The Gu can activate only the phantom of one Gu at a time, so boar strength phantom and bear strength phantom cannot be used together. A battle stage opponent finds that every move can bring one out. ^{ch. 288}

Beast phantoms can lurk unseen. Li Hao had removed the ones hidden in his body so that Position Swap Gu would cost less primeval essence. All-out Effort Gu itself costs very little essence, and the phantoms do not expend any. ^{ch. 291}

Brown Bear Innate Strength Gu, black and white boar Gu, and Crocodile Strength Gu hold Great Dao law fragments of physical strength. When that strength lurks in a Gu Master’s body, it forms beast phantoms that conceal themselves until true power is unleashed and they can be seen with the naked eye. The beast phantom’s essence is the dao mark of physical strength, a trace of Great Dao in heaven and earth. A strength dao mark that is too strong can make Rainbow Light Gu and Position Swap Gu fail, because the law of strength interferes with the laws of light and space. ^{ch. 292} Those marks as law traces are covered on dao marks. Gu as carriers of the fragments are covered on Gu worms.

The rank three all-out effort Gu can only summon one beast phantom at a time. ^{ch. 297}

Beast phantoms are traces of Great Dao, hollow and immaterial, and cannot attack directly. Strength Qi Gu creates formless qi of strength. The phantoms leave the body, attach to that qi, and attack until the qi vanishes, after which they dissipate and return. The weakness of Strength Qi Gu is its primeval essence cost: five percent of snow silver primeval essence to contain one beast phantom. ^{ch. 320}

Beast strength does not suit the human body, so beast phantoms can be unleashed only sometimes, not always. Iron Crown Eagle Strength Gu carves that eagle’s strength path dao marks onto the user, but those marks do not fit a human frame. Only when they resonate can the Gu Master unleash that eagle’s strength and summon its phantom. All-out effort’s true effect is complete resonance of the strength path dao marks carved on a person’s body. ^{ch. 758}
