Black and White Boar Gu

In the academy Gu storage room, Fang Yuan ranks Black Boar Gu and White Boar Gu as the two highest value Gu in the Boar Gu series, above Jade Skin Gu and Liquor worm. A Black Boar Gu or a White Boar Gu sells for about six hundred primeval stones and is often bought as soon as it appears. ^{ch. 62}

Permanent strength

Their ability is to change the Gu Master’s body constitution and raise strength permanently. The gain is small at a time but accumulates, belongs wholly to the Gu Master, and remains even if the Gu dies. ^{ch. 62} Black and White Boar Gu also give strength without needing primeval essence to keep that worth in play, and after one person has used them they can still be given to another. ^{ch. 96}

Bai Ning Bing’s ice muscles, once achieved, are compared the same way: lasting strength like Black and White Boar Gu, with no primeval essence needed to sustain the remodel. ^{ch. 137}

Feeding and clan control

Boar Gu eat pork. Black and White Boar Gu need about one fully grown pig’s worth of meat every five days. ^{ch. 64} Gu Yue higher-ups treat precious Gu such as Liquor worm, Black and White Boar Gu, and Nine Leaf Vitality Grass as assets to control for the whole clan. ^{ch. 106}
