Black Boar Gu

In the aperture it is a black ladybug-like Gu, shaking its wings and hovering. ^{ch. 115}

Like the White Boar Gu, it changes constitution and raises strength permanently. The gain accumulates, stays with the body even if the Gu dies, ^{ch. 62} and does not need primeval essence to keep that strength available in a fight. After one person has used the Gu, it can still be given to another person to use. ^{ch. 96}

White Boar Gu alone stops at one boar’s strength. A second White Boar Gu adds nothing after that limit. Black Boar Gu is different: its ability can overlay White Boar Gu’s. ^{ch. 111} Fang Yuan later fights with the strength of two boars from holding both. ^{ch. 120}

Rank one Black Boar Gu already has a named fusion line with Green Silk Gu into rank two Black Mane Gu, then rank three Steel Mane Gu. ^{ch. 47 ch. 64} Fang Yuan later judges that Steel Mane path of little use once he already has White Jade Gu, and prefers to trade the Black Boar Gu away. ^{ch. 123}

Boar Gu eat pork. Black and White Boar Gu need about one fully grown pig’s worth of meat every five days. ^{ch. 64} After Fang Yuan buys one, clan talk reports him buying pork to nurture it while he trains strength. ^{ch. 119}

He buys a Black Boar Gu from Jia Fu’s caravan treehouse after he already has White Boar strength, specifically because Black can stack where another White cannot. ^{ch. 111} The chapters that cover that purchase do not state the exact primeval stone price he paid. Jia Fu later notes that Fang Yuan succeeded in buying Black Boar Gu, a Liquor worm, and red steel Relic Gu from the treehouse stretch. ^{ch. 113} He later trades that Gu to Gu Yue Qing Shu for a Fish Scale Gu. ^{ch. 123 ch. 127}

In the Shang clan city stretch, while Wei Yang argues against the strength path, Fang Yuan lists black and white boar Gu among the Gu he used to modify his body and raise strength. Wei Yang then calls those Gu expensive ones that permanently increase strength. ^{ch. 280}

Without Gu worms that modify the body like Black Boar Gu and White Boar Gu, a Gu Master’s body is no different from a mortal’s; dao marks from such modification are what make the body extraordinary. ^{ch. 1024} In Reverse Flow River terms, using Black Boar Gu to gain a boar’s strength carves strength path dao marks into the body, so that strength still remains usable even when Gu worms cannot be activated. ^{ch. 1272}

The smelly fart fat worm is a rank one poison path Gu that looks like Black Boar Gu and is often sold by unscrupulous merchants as a fake Black Boar Gu. ^{ch. 2098}
