Stealth Rock Gu

On Qing Mao Mountain, Fang Yuan kills a jade eye stone monkey king in the rock forest and takes the Stealth Rock Gu from its corpse. ^{ch. 116}

Appearance

It looks ordinary, like a grey rock with an uneven surface that is neither squarish nor spherical. Thrown on a road, no one would notice it from appearance. It is the essence of a rock, a natural Gu, living and thinking even though it looks inanimate. ^{ch. 116}

Form and rank

It is rank one. ^{ch. 116 ch. 121}

In Fang Yuan’s aperture it sinks to the bottom of the primeval sea beside the White Jade Gu. ^{ch. 116}

Effect

It grants stealth and conceals the body, making the user invisible to ordinary sight. ^{ch. 116} Clothes, wrist guards, leg wrappings, and bamboo shoes stay visible, so a clothed Gu Master still shows as a walking uniform unless stripped bare. ^{ch. 121} It also cannot hide blood traces. ^{ch. 116}

After Fang Yuan obtains it, he still has no Gu that can hide his middle stage aura, and his cultivation level is exposed a day later. ^{ch. 116}

Early Qing Mao Mountain chapters do not state what Stealth Rock Gu eats.

Fang Yuan’s early use

The monkey king uses the Gu for sneak attacks in the rock forest. Fang Yuan guesses the rank one stealth rock Gu from the stealth that fails against blood, then confirms the name when the worm floats from the corpse toward a new king. He grabs it, lets the Spring Autumn Cicada leak aura until the worm stops struggling, and refines it with red primeval essence. ^{ch. 116}

He judges it has little practical use while he still wears clothes, and he begins collecting ingredients to fuse it while advancing toward rank two upper stage. ^{ch. 116 ch. 121}

Fusion into Stealth Scales Gu

Fang Yuan plans to fuse Stealth Rock Gu into rank two Stealth Scales Gu, which can conceal clothes as well. ^{ch. 121} Fish Scale Gu is used with Stealth Rock Gu to create Stealth Scale Gu. That recipe would only be discovered two hundred years later. ^{ch. 123} Other materials besides Stealth Rock Gu are common, and he asks Jiang Ya to gather them. ^{ch. 121}

He obtains the Fish Scale Gu by trading his Black Boar Gu with Gu Yue Qing Shu, and he successfully refines Stealth Scales Gu before the Gu battle tournament. ^{ch. 123 ch. 127} After that advance, later chapters speak of Stealth Scales Gu rather than Stealth Rock Gu.
