Pork

White Boar Gu’s food is pork, since boar refers to pigs, and the whole Boar Gu series eats pork. Black and White Boar Gu have huge appetites: every five days they need to eat around one fully grown pig’s worth of meat. Pork is not cheap in this world; mortals can usually only afford to slaughter a pig for New Year celebrations, and villagers eat pork occasionally only through hunters killing wild boars in the mountains. Buying that much pork from the village would cost primeval stones and draw attention, so Fang Yuan decides to leave the village and hunt wild boars in the mountains for it himself. ^{ch. 64}

After Fang Yuan sends White Boar Gu into a wild boar he has killed, it eats the animal down to its fur and intestines. Though it eats pork nearly a thousand times its own size, White Boar Gu does not change physically. The wild boar’s body has three things of value: pork, fur, and its teeth. ^{ch. 70}

After Fang Yuan refines White Jade Gu from White Boar Gu and Jade Skin Gu, White Boar Gu disappears and his need for pork drops to zero. ^{ch. 100}

Fang Yuan also buys a Black Boar Gu and spends months buying pork to nurture it and increase his strength. ^{ch. 119}
