Huo Tan mountain is a dormant volcano about three kilometers tall. The peak is flat, with a hole that holds flowing magma and thick smoke rising like a chimney. Charcoal stones are almost everywhere; stepping on them feels hot from below, the air is dry, and dark red charcoal stones fill the view. Trees grow short and thin with needle-like branches that do not block sunlight, so vision is wider than on other mountains. ch. 335
Mountain ambush
Demonic assassins Jiao Huang and Meng Tu hide and wait because anyone headed for San Cha Mountain must pass here, and they have prepared a trap for the pair. Lava crocodiles crawl from the ground, led by a thousand beast king the size of three elephants, and encircle Fang Yuan and Bai Ning Bing. ch. 335 The pair kill the king and scatter the group; the assassins, watching from a far corner, abandon a direct strike after seeing that fight. ch. 336 The same pair had already struck here with the lava crocodile group; that move failed to stop Fang and Bai, so they followed on to San Cha mountain instead. ch. 354
San Cha watch
On reddish-brown mountain rocks, wine is kept warm by the mountain’s heat while Fang Yuan drinks and Bai Ning Bing stares toward San Cha mountain, where three light pillars shine into the sky. Bai Ning Bing complains that for months they have been lurking here after the inheritance has opened twice, with Tie Mu Bai controlling San Cha mountain and chasing away demonic Gu Masters. ch. 371
