Xiao Clan

Fang Yuan recognizes a rank five entrant into the three kings blessed land as Xiao Mang of Xiao clan, an expert of the light path who possesses rank five extreme light Gu, and recalls that in his previous life Xiao Mang appeared on San Cha mountain. ^{ch. 389} Facing the demonic path across a dog-beast formation, Xiao Mang is the young master of the grand Xiao clan and a famous righteous-path figure who will not lower his head first. ^{ch. 402}

At the impassable dunes, Xiao clan Gu Masters fight hidden sand spiders in formation; Xiao clan is a super force of Western Desert, and its Gu Masters have rich experience dealing with those spiders. ^{ch. 836}

Xiao clan Gu Immortals work the dunes’ periphery under Xiao Hu Chi, with Xiao Shi Rang as deputy, aiming to train Gu Masters and capture hidden sand spider queens. Xiao clan holds the Immortal Gu House Ten Thousand Li Silk Corridor, spreads it to transport goods, and ranks among the richest Western Desert super forces because of that house; keeping the corridor running consumes large numbers of mortal spider Gu each year. From a bird’s eye view the corridor resembles a giant spider web over Western Desert, and goods on its silk-smooth floor move at extreme speed. Captured hidden sand spider queens are meant to be raised at clan headquarters so that Gu Masters can refine mortal spider Gu from their blood and flesh; Xiao clan’s first supreme elder also names a contest with Dong clan to occupy the northwest market by spreading the corridor faster. ^{ch. 837}

Southern Border’s Light Mountain, more than two and a half kilometers tall and known for light path Gu worms, has been held by a single force for the last thousand years: Xiao clan. Rumors say Southern Border’s Xiao clan and Western Desert’s Xiao clan share one origin, and that a thousand years earlier an internal conflict in Western Desert’s Xiao clan sent the losing side to Southern Border. Southern Border’s Xiao clan was once a super force, but its final remaining Gu Immortal, the supreme elder, had not appeared for a hundred years, and the clan had fallen to a large scale force. Clan leader Xiao Shan stands on a mountain slope looking at the main base partway up the mountain; under pressure from Wu Hui and Wu clan, he enters the clan forbidden area seeking an ancestor’s inheritance, and Xiao Mang appears as his twin brother to seize on that breach and claim the leadership. ^{ch. 962}

Fang Yuan weighs that Western Desert’s Xiao clan can take in all the regretful spiders even at much higher supply, and that he already has a collaborative relationship with Xiao clan. ^{ch. 1327} Fang Yuan later names Western Desert’s Xiao clan as the main buyers of his regretful spiders, with that relationship growing firmer. ^{ch. 1470}

Western Desert’s super forces are listed as fourteen clans, and Xiao clan is one of them. In the Western Desert Gu Immortal world, Xiao clan and Tian clan are normally thought of highly because, in the past peaceful era, those two had the largest businesses, many Gu Immortals, and even rank eight Gu Immortals leading them. When Wan clan gathers an expedition against Fang clan, Xiao clan is named among the allied forces and is called the strongest support, sending Xiao Ye Hu, who holds the dark path Immortal Gu House Chamber Pot after Xiao clan helped repair a damaged house he obtained young. ^{ch. 2255}
