Grey Meltdown is a refinement path killer move that northern plains super tribes use in Eighty-Eight True Yang Building. With an owner token it connects to half-refined Gu that form a round, collapses that round, and skips ahead without a normal clear.

Owner token and half-refined Gu
Mo Yao reads the cast as digging at hibernating Giant Sun’s will: outside Gu Masters release Gu that the building absorbs into rounds, but hibernation leaves those Gu only half-refined. Grey meltdown uses the owner token to connect to those half-refined Gu, refine the round’s core at once, and force the building to switch rounds. The window is time-bound; once Giant Sun’s will finishes refining the Gu, the connection fails. ch. 594
Round limits and forced skips
The move needs inside-outside coordination through Gu rewards planted by allies such as Hei Bai or Xue Song Zi. A first-round Hei Bai reward can be forced this way; a second-round wild Gu reward cannot, because Hei Lou Lan cannot connect to those wild Gu. Under vine ambush he still tries to skip the second round by linking to the third round’s half-refined Xue Song Zi reward, which multiplies the move’s power several times beyond what the refinement path Gu Masters can bear and risks killing a share of them whether it succeeds or fails. ch. 595
Token loss
When Fang Yuan, controlling the floor, snatches Hei Lou Lan’s two-edge owner token mid-cast, the grey radiance collapses, grey meltdown ends at once, and almost all refinement path Gu Masters in the formation die from backlash while Hei Lou Lan also coughs blood. Without the owner token he cannot use grey meltdown and must clear rounds by force. Using Gu long hidden in the treasure corridor crystal walls, Fang Yuan arranges a refinement path cast that originates from grey meltdown but hits harder. ch. 596
Central continent revision
The revised version researched by central continent Gu Immortals is more perfect than tribal grey meltdown, shifts pressure onto Eighty-Eight True Yang Building so the caster avoids that backlash, and lets him collapse remaining rounds to seize half-refined Immortal Gu rewards. ch. 597
