Gao Yang uses cloud rope Gu and the rank five treacherous cloud wave Gu when reinforcing Zhu Zai against Mo Shi Kuang and Ouyang Bi Sang. ^{ch. 531}

Liu Wen Wu, Ouyang Bi Sang, and Mo Shi Kuang fuse into Three Head Six Arms and smash Gao Yang’s head; Zhu Zai dies next. Tai Bai Yun Sheng then activates man as before Gu, and silver light restores both to their previous state. ^{ch. 534} Later talk restates that revival and notes they lost their Gu worms, including Gao Yang’s treacherous cloud wave Gu, because man as before targets human bodies and not Gu worms. They borrow battle merits to rebuild sets and keep fighting for Hei Lou Lan. ^{ch. 538}

By the blood hall attempt Gao Yang and Zhu Zai are named rank five Gu Master experts and take turns as front vanguard while Tai Bai Yun Sheng supports the group with man as before Gu. When primeval essence runs out and Zhu Zai falls, a python-like blood beast swallows Gao Yang in one bite. ^{ch. 591} Hei Lou Lan’s later tally counts Gao Yang among five rank five experts already dead from that period’s losses. ^{ch. 593}
