Deep within the trench, inside a certain cave, Purple Mountain True Monarch wakes from madness while Ying Wu Xie appears, after Shadow Sect’s party of four returns to Southern Border and enters that trench. ch. 1333
Shadow Sect’s temporary headquarters
Arriving above the trench, Fang Yuan identifies it by name: after the battle of Reverse Flow River, Purple Mountain True Monarch led Shadow Sect’s remnant forces from Northern Plains through Eastern Sea and into Southern Border, and Plunder Shadow Earth Trench became their temporary headquarters. Its Gu formation uses only mortal Gu, drawing on the trench’s dense dark path dao marks for the power of an immortal Gu formation, and its best effect is preventing the deductions of others; even Fang Yuan’s grandmaster formation path attainment lets him see through it only roughly. ch. 1379
